If you want to experience the true ambience of the Strandveld, then look no further than Strandskloof Caravan Park. Situated against the Franskraal Mountain a few kilometres outside Gansbaai on the R43, the caravan park offers sites amidst melkhout trees and fynbos, and offers a view of Dyer Island.

The large stands have lush green grass, each with access to water and electricity, with enclosed fencing that offers privacy and improved shelter if there happens to be any wind.

My weekend getaway started on Friday morning. I meandered from Cape Town over Sir Lowry’s Pass, passing Houw Hoek, Elgin and then through Hermanus, on to Stanford and Gansbaai, finally arriving at my destination in the early afternoon.
