A WHALE AIRCRAFT

Airbus started the flights of its new cargo aircraft, the Beluga XL, based on the A330-200. Built with the purpose of transporting components of the aircrafts of the European manufacturer itself, the model of more robust dimensions will substitute the current A300-600 Super Transporter fleet.

The new aircraft stands out for its huge cargo area. With over 2,200 cubic meters, 45 meters of total useful length, and 8.8 meters diameter. As a comparison, the fuselage of the A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft, has a diameter of 7.15 meters. With this, the model reveals itself as the largest special cargo aircraft of the present time, also exceeding the Antonov 225, which has smaller cubic content.
