KIM LEUTWYLER

1/ American-born Sydney-based artist Kim Leutwyler describes her paintings as figurative portraits of “LGBTQ+ identified and Queer-allied women, most recently focusing on those who have impacted my life in some way”. She delves into issues of glorification, objectification and modification while commenting on the fluid nature of gender, identity and beauty. Despite working with installations, ceramics and drawing, Kim’s main focus is on painting due to the medium’s predominantly masculine history, and hopefully altering its future along the way. It’s a legacy she is working hard to reform as we head into a more inclusive future.
