Sweet corn is a type of grass that’s grown for its sweet, juicy, delicious cobs. As it is a grass, corn is wind pollinated, which means it isn’t reliant on bees to produce a crop.
In backyard vegetable gardens, sweet corn is traditionally grown in blocks 1-2sqm, rather than in rows. This is done to maximise pollination as this pattern of planting ensures good pollination, regardless of which way the wind is blowing.
