OK, so I was wrong. Very wrong. Having spent my entire adult life dismissing ocean cruising as a holiday option, I was persuaded to put prejudices aside and set sail for Tasmania with Princess Cruises.

Seasickness was my greatest fear. Notions of being violently ill and not able to get off were probably the major deterrent. Being trapped on a “floating RSL” club with bingo games and compulsory line dancing lessons came a pretty close second. And the concept of endless queues to eat self-service food from a bain marie was another reason to avoid the cruising life. All wrong as it turns out.
