ON 25 SEPTEMBER, AS I BEGAN THIS review of Lesley Harding and Kendrah Morgan’s new book, a State Memorial was held in the St Kilda Palais for one of its subjects, the artist Mirka Mora. The acclaimed modernists Albert Tucker and Sidney Nolan, whose work has been celebrated for breaking with traditional approaches to Australian painting, did not have State Memorials.
