Learning How to Live

In my world, there are two very difficult situations to explain. One, what it feels like to receive the diagnosis of cancer, and two, how to explain the euphoria of skiing.

Within the cancer community, I find it hard to listen to other people with their own personal stories. Of course, the words of encouragement are well intended. However, my cancer is not like theirs; my life, diagnosis, and prognosis is different from everyone else’s. So as I could never pretend to really understand someone else’s journey, I don’t think anyone can really understand mine. Then I read Matt Hansen’s article “Skiing Helps
