Because he rules the box office not just in India but also in China. Fondly known as Uncle Aamir there, both Dangal and Secret Superstar have surpassed collections at home. No wonder the Narendra Modi government is considering roping him in to improve Indo-China relations.

Because he is the consistently good Khan. While Shah Rukh (Jab Harry Met Sejal) and Salman's (Tubelight) fortunes at the box office fluctuate, Aamir is the bankable star. His next is the highly anticipated period action adventure, Thugs of Hindostan, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Because Khan's non-profit Paani Foundation has been active since 2016 in educating villagers in Maharashtra about how to save water, to ultimately make the state drought-free. In 2018, over 5,945 villages will compete for the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, a competition that rewards the village with the best watershed management and water conservation practices with Rs 50 lakh.
