ALTA SKI AREA

There is a spirit to Alta. Perhaps it is because generations of skiers have been able to pass on their love for the mountain. It may be because there is a bit of a “purist’s” feel for those who choose to ski here. Whatever the reasons, Alta is a place that many local and destination skiers choose to call home.

FRIDAY

11:30 AM: Land at SLC Airport

12:45 PM: Drop bags at slopeside lodge

1: 15PM: Ski like the devil until 4:30 pm

5:15 PM: Hot tub/swim at lodge pool

7:00 PM: After cocktails in cozy bar with fireplace, sit down to a 5 course dinner, included in your lodging package

9:30 PM: Bed!

SATURDAY

7:45 AM: Enjoy great breakfast with a choice of hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit and juices, yogurt, sweet breads, preserves, and eggs cooked to order. A hot buffet includes French toast or pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. All included in your lodging package.

9: 15 AM: Catch 1st chair on Collins lift

11:30 AM: Treat yourself to an Expresso at Baldy Brews

1:30-4:00 PM: Take an Advanced Off-trail Workshop

5:30 PM: Sip a Margarita

7:15 PM: Was this really on the menu? Wild Alaskan Halibut, Smoked Tomato Beurre Blanc with Farro and Green Beans

SUNDAY

7:45 AM: Early breakfast

8:30-9:30 AM: Early Bird skiing with a pro from the Alf Engen Ski School. Pre-public experience. Is that powder all for you?

12:30 PM: Lunch at Collins Grill. Locally sourced foods with a full menu of spirits, wine & beer.

2:30 PM: Late check-out after warm shower and shuttle to the airport

FRIDAY

4 PM: Flight arrives at Ted Stevens Intl. Airport. This smaller airport is insanely easy getting out of. Grab a car and drive the Seward Highway just 40 miles away.

5 PM: At check-in: get room keys, night skiing tickets and weekend concert tickets. Head to room and change into gear.

5:30 PM: Head up the tram and make a few night laps under the lights.

7:30 PM: Stop into Seven Glaciers for a beer, cocktail or signature Fizz…you won’t find this drink on any menu and you will need to pledge allegiance to Fizz Nation.

9 PM: Head to the third floor to grab dinner at Sakura. Hope you’re in the mood for the best Sushi in Alaska.

SATURDAY

AM: Breakfast and coffee and chill; the lifts don’t start spinning until 10:30 a.m. at Alyeska!

10:30 AM: Take the Aerial Tram to 2,300’ and head to Glacier Bowl Express. Drop into any of the steep terrain off of South Edge or follow the locals into North Face gates.

NOON: Stop in the Upper Tram Terminal for a quick bite at the new Bore Tide Bar.

1 PM: Ski Christmas Chute.

1:20 PM: Ski Christmas Chute AGAIN.

5 PM: Après beers and apps at the Sitzmark 10 PM: Head back to the Sitzmark and get ready to dance the night away.

SUNDAY

7 AM: Heli briefing.

8 AM: Eat up, you’ll need the calories.

9 AM: Walk from your room, down the elevator, through the lobby, to the heli-pad and take off for a day of crushing the Alaskan backcountry with Chugach Powder Guides!
