Change is hard in a small Southern town, especially when it brings a side of murder. All Harvey Beckett wants to do is help the residents of St. Marin's find the perfect book for that moment, snuggle with her hound dog Mayhem, and be ignored by her cat Aslan. But when the small, waterside town's newest resident discovers the body of the community's persnickety reporter in her bookshop storeroom just before her grand opening, Harvey can't help trying to solve the crime, even when it might cost her business and her life. The more questions Harvey asks, the more secrets she uncovers. Will Harvey and her friends be able to solve the murder of the town reporter without her becoming a victim herself?
- Bound to Execute

The things Harvey Beckett doesn’t know about her neighbors could get her killed. In the perfect days of early May, bookshop owner Harvey Beckett is looking forward to evenings of walking Mayhem, reading in the before bed, and maybe even enjoying a snuggle with her favorite mechanic. But a meandering dog walk pushes pause on those plans when she and Mayhem stumble upon the body of the much-detested local bank manager. Harvey and her friends discover that there’s a lot going on behind the scenes in quiet St. Marin’s, a lot that people are hiding. Can Harvey help, or will her helping only end up creating more trouble for everyone around her?
- Tome to Tomb

A dead body in Santa's lap is not what Harvey Beckett wanted for Christmas. The streets of St. Marin’s are decorated for Christmas, and Harvey Beckett has decided that she’ll host Santa Claus at her bookstore, reviving a town’s long-standing tradition. But on the first day of the holiday season, a man stumbles into Santa’s lap and dies, threatening the holiday spirit . . . and bringing a slew of questions that Harvey can’t resist trying to answer. Will Harvey’s queries land her, her friends – and their dogs – in a load of trouble?
- Plotted for Murder

She has always said if she was running, it’s because she was being chased. That’s never been more true. It's Autumn, bookstore owner Harvey Beckett’s favorite time of year, and she's most excited about two things – her bookshop's float in the annual Harvest Parade and pumpkin everything. But when her best friend Mart finds the body of her running coach and high school gym teacher behind the bleachers one fall morning, Harvey becomes enthralled in a mystery that uncovers their quaint town's darkest secrets. When Harvey's curiosity gets the best of her, she and her pup Mayhem find that maybe there are just some secrets better left undiscovered.

First off the black sheriff is up for reelection against a racist white guy and of course the author had to make that known; again and again. I could look past that even though there are millions of other ethnic radicals. But the author kept harping on white privilege, white supremacy and on and on. And of course people who are anti-immigration. Tell that to people who will be impacted by the millions and millions of illegals entering the U.S. where a HUGE number are known terrorists; or the thousands of young Chinese men crossing the border. Well gosh darn, I guess I am anti-immigration.
I didn’t even finish the book. Now before you think this reviewer is racist, I guess it’s hard to maybe not be sometimes when this is constantly shoved down your throat.
I’ve never known anyone with white privilege except the very rich and celebrities. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5
