Discovering Our Inner Self Through the Great Sacred Medicine: Ayacruna

    Acknowledgments

This book is partly dedicated to my children: Deyanira, Víctor Hugo Jr., Eilyn, and Ricardo, for giving me the opportunity to be a mother, and to thank life for its divine perfection—for teaching me to be a caretaker of life with love and light, with responsibility—so that they, as the fruit of the seed, may grow to be happy beings who also care for their own lives. Thank you, my children, for your teachings of love, compassion, and intelligence, and for helping me connect with the energy of unconditional love. You are part of my inspiration because you have pure hearts. You opened the doors for me to a beautiful world of love, care, and responsibility as a mother—a role I continue to learn—for it is an integral part of my personal growth as a woman and as a human being. I love you.

To Victor Hugo Santos, companion in life, for understanding my brief yet intense absences in the search for my spiritual knowledge.

To all those who have crossed my path—friends, students, helpers, and family—who gave me the opportunity to learn how to use my gifts and powers through the challenges of my journey, so that I could live my holistic calling with passion.

To my teacher Josie Hadley, for giving me the opportunity to open the doors to the study of hypnotherapy in Spanish at her school, the Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy, while she was still alive. She passed away on December 13, 2007. Her light remains in her book that has traveled the world: Hypnosis: Pathway to Change.

To Dr. Luis A. Martínez Pérez, for his proposal to heal the soul through his courses in Regressive Reconstructive Therapy, for his talent, creativity, and contribution to humanity. He is President of AETRA (Asociación Española de Técnicas Regresivas Aplicadas), established in Spain, which fulfilled all my expectations for professional formation as a holistic therapist and educator. He was also the one who suggested the use of ayahuasca to understand expanded states of consciousness. Thank you, teacher.

To Tito, for bringing ayahuasca around 2008—I can’t remember the exact date—and for making the decision to invite me to share such an evolutionary medicine that reset our beliefs, mine and those of the group of students I dared to invite.

To Shaman Lucho, for facilitating our group’s experience, for sharing his knowledge, his songs, and his valuable time, and for reinforcing our respect for ayahuasca as an energetic radar for cleansing and as a teacher showing us the path through visions and revelations... in Colombia.

To Ricardo González, contemporary writer and contact experiencer, who helped me reconnect with my inner self through his seminars and journeys to Mount Shasta.

And finally, to Enrique Villanueva, for his teachings as a therapist, teacher, and lecturer—a beautiful human being.

    Introduction

    Oh, Mother Earth

    Leticia Elicea

Your children went out to travel across your body,

Mother Earth, through the 197 countries that make you whole,

    seeking shelter and glory.

Your geography is a vast mass of emerged land,

    divided by political boundaries,

and nine are the groups that make up your ethnography.

Why do we look to the sky as our hope?

Why do we ask the moon for promises of love?

Why do we travel light-years away in distance?

Oh, Mother, when you already hold us in your embrace!

For humankind, you are home— a world full of sounds,

melodies and joyful noises that form your fauna and your rivers.

Man is amazed at the passing of the years you spent alone...

waiting for our arrival, waiting for our arrival…

The Importance of Preserving this Knowledge of Ayacruna

Despite the growing popularity of sacred plants in Western culture, it is essential to recognize and respect the traditions of the Indigenous peoples who have used them for centuries. The preservation of this ancestral knowledge is vital to ensure a responsible and respectful use of these powerful spiritual tools.

It is possible that the discovery of the psychoactive properties of these plants occurred by accident—perhaps through ingestion by mistake or as part of the search for food. It is also suggested that humans may have acquired this knowledge by observing the behavior of animals that consumed these plants and then experiencing their effects by imitation.

In many Indigenous cultures, it is believed that the knowledge of sacred plants was revealed to shamans and healers through visions and spiritual experiences.

The union of chacruna and ayahuasca creates a synergy that allows access to expanded states of consciousness, facilitating emotional, spiritual, and physical healing.

An ancient connection with the sacred

It is believed that the ritual use of these plants dates back thousands of years. Cave paintings, artifacts, and oral traditions from various Indigenous cultures of South and North America suggest a long history of interaction between human beings and these psychoactive substances.

These plants were used in religious and spiritual ceremonies to connect with the world of spirits, to seek visions, to heal illnesses, and to establish a deeper bond with nature.

The orally transmitted knowledge about the cultivation, preparation, and use of these plants was passed down from generation to generation, kept in secrecy for centuries.

This union was not an accident but an evolutionary process founded on a deep connection with nature and an understanding of the healing properties of plants.

In summary, the origin of sacred plants remains a mystery that holds a profound connection between humanity and nature. Their ancestral use and their role in Indigenous cultures make them a cultural and spiritual treasure worthy of study and preservation.

    The Medicine of the Spirit

Ayahuasca is not just a chemical substance; it is a medicine that connects the individual with the spiritual world and with their own inner being.

The effects of ayahuasca may include:

Past lives: memories of previous experiences.

Spiritual entities: encounters with beings from other planes of existence.

Self-knowledge: a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s own life.

Healing of traumas: release of repressed emotions and negative behavioral patterns.

Connection with nature: a sense of unity with all living beings and with the universe.

    Important considerations:

Cultural and ritual context: ayahuasca is a sacred medicine used within a specific cultural framework, accompanied by rituals and spiritual guidance.

Risks: ayahuasca can have side effects and contraindications, so it is important to seek the guidance of an experienced shaman and undergo prior medical evaluation.

Legality: the legal status of ayahuasca varies by country.

In conclusion, the union of chacruna and ayahuasca is the result of ancestral wisdom and a deep connection with nature. This powerful medicine has been used for centuries to promote healing, spiritual growth, and connection with the divine.

Note: When I speak of ayacruna, it is because the masculine energy is the one that cooks the medicine and also offers it to the participants. Therefore, they simply call it ayahuasca, referring to the masculine plant, and leave aside chacruna, which represents the feminine energy—the teacher that gives us guidance and visions. That is why I call it aya (ayahuasca) and cruna (chacruna), forming ayacruna. This medicine, united by the two plants, has more than forty names, and the one I have given it, I believe, is the last.

    The Pre-Initiation

Let me tell you that this book is being revised and edited in the year 2025, and it contains accounts that span from 2008 to 2024. In some pages, it remains intact; in others, the message has been modified according to my experience through many years of facilitating the medicine. They have been challenges, lessons, and growth in my direction toward the light we all have—though some do not consider it important.

First of all, there is an explanation of why I made the decision to take ayahuasca and added another name to it, with its permission. Ayahuasca is the vine, and chacruna is the other plant that completes what we know as the medicine. So, I asked for permission and named it aya from ayahuasca and cruna from chacruna, which blend beautifully together: ayacruna.

All my life I had been in a constant search for renewal—for rediscovering myself, for happiness, for understanding who I am, why I came to this planet, what my purpose here is, why there is injustice, why we behave destructively, with aggression, disloyalty, and dark emotions such as envy, resentment, hatred, and so many addictions. So many actions that distance us from our humanity.

In addition, the current system governs the masses by force—turning people into submissive instruments living in enslavement, promoting constant brainwashing through the media, entertainment, education, medicine, religion, and the military. Humanity today is
