1. Amur Leopard

The Amur leopard, also known as the Far Eastern leopard, is one of the world's rarest and most endangered big cats. With only a few dozen individuals left in the wild, this magnificent feline is on the brink of extinction.

The Amur leopard is native to the Primorsky Krai region of Russia and the Jilin Province of China, where it inhabits the temperate forests and mountainous terrain of the region. Historically, the Amur leopard's range extended into North Korea, but there have been no confirmed sightings in that country since the 1990s.

The Amur leopard is a medium-sized cat, weighing between 70 and 105 pounds, and measuring up to six feet in length from head to tail. Its fur is thick and luxuriant, with a tawny or reddish-brown coat marked by black spots arranged in a rosette pattern. The Amur leopard's distinctive appearance and graceful movements make it a beloved icon of the animal kingdom.

Unfortunately, the Amur leopard's beauty and rarity have made it a prime target for poachers and trophy hunters. The fur trade and habitat destruction have driven the species to the brink of extinction. In the 1970s, the Amur leopard's population was estimated to be around 50 individuals, but by the mid-1990s, that number had dropped to fewer than 30.
