Author DeeAnn Gorman, Christian Romance Novelist from Iowa. She has her degree in Human Services and a Minor in English literature. In 1989 attended Iowa writers Workshop for the summer. And won a poetry award from Poetry writers achieving a lapel pin to wear a flame on a book. She has A grown daughter and two grown sons, wonderful daughter in laws. Five cherished grandsons. Dog Mckenzie. DeeAnn has been married to her long-time love for years. She writes Amish Mennonite Romance and Mystery books. Her ancestors on her fathers side Pennsylvania, Dutch and they decided not to be baptized into the Amish religion so when they left could continue visiting and not be shunned. Traveling down the Wisconsin River to Olin, Iowa where they purchased farms there.

IMG_0334.JPGPaul Yoder , had not been gone long when a horrible Buggy accident occurred, round old silo Corner , by Medcalfes Big Cattle farm. The Buggy flipped , killing Paul Yoder. Leaving behind A Fra Annie Yoder, Three young Dochders , MaryBell, six months, Heatherlou seven and FannyMay nine years old. Such a happy family whom owned the Pumpkin farm in town.
Chapter One
Grieving
The entire Amish Village in Lancaster grieved such a bad accident to happen. A family so in love with each other be not fair for this to happen. Ma’am where’s Papa gone ,
Heatherlou , cried broken hearted for sure . Laying against her Ma’am’s shoulder, now teared stained. " Ma’am now what Heatherlou asked ? She sobbed on Annie’s other shoulder soiled tears stained. Then Bobbli MaryBell cried scared now with us all crying like we were.
The thing just terrible everyone whispered. And cried Paul so waunderbra gutte, Amish Man. Anna’s Parents came to stay now selling their farm off to move her into the Daude Haus , asked by Annie , She’d need all their help now with Paul dead. Dead she whispered, did I say my Paul demised. She sat thinking while rubbing her kinners backs. Hugging MaryBell tight close to her Bosem . Annie’s world just went hay wire actually. The Funeral Held at our Pumpkin Farm. An entire farm yard filled with grieving Parishioners from Church. In the Barn it were held walking past Paul’s casket to view his body frozen laying there dressed in all black Amish suit. Annie now would wear black for a long time for death of her Man. Her Kinner finally calmed down . We must Grieve, our lord knows all bounty Guttes he has given us . The same Thanksgiving bestowed upon us . Love believes all things and never passes away ,
Minister Yoder said. Some Amish family members heard crying into hankies. And to make things worst it started storming outside with a very severe rain. Then no grave services now. After Church over for Paul’s funeral. A large meal in the barn catered by Church. Roast , Turkey sandwiches. Potato chips , relish tray of vegetables with dip. Along with a table of pieces of cake , slices of pie and cookies, cups of kaffi and ice tea. The day of Paul’s funeral went by in such a blur for Annie . She felt as if our lord lead her through this storm , for which we walked . A Valley of darkness
For you are with me , you are the Savior of The World. A group of Amish whom loved us were there . Annie,s Mater and Fater moved back to the Daude Haus . They’d help run the Pumpkin farm. After everyone left a stillness upon us all left behind by our Paul Yoder. You see he’d not walk in smiling from the field . Annie expected him , to be a mistake. A dream and she’d awake with Paul’s big smile and hug. I will Grieve for thee for my whole life , Dear Man of mine.
Chapter Two
Harvesting
Fater and our hired hands harvesting Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes . Also Gourds . Then lots of Squash to eat for the family table. The air smells of the fire place inside our farm house . An Apple Orchard full of Golden Crisp Granny Apples. When you entered thru a gate entrance, you received a pass to get in. A rustic wagon to pull , for your treasure hunt here , consisting of Pumpkins, Gourds , Squash with the Apple orchard. We had also a Barn with Amish Tonight town women from Church . They made breads , jelly , and rolls , to sell. Also Hand knitted shawls, baby blankets, Bonnets and much more. Home made furniture, along with some primitive Antiques. With lots of dried Corn wreaths. Some Beautifully hand made quilts , hung on quilt stands. Today a maid rites for one dollar, a roaster there keeping them hot with a free ice tea to go with. Hay rack rides twice a month on Saturdaag. Also lots of out houses for use.
Fall such a fun time of year , with sweaters
Coming back again keeping us warm. Pretty leaves of orange, green , some brown falling on the ground slowly in day drum kind of way. Paul Yoder , had loved this time of year, and we were all having a hard time right now missing him. Big a Belgium’s pulling racks of Pumpkins . The same farm , just no Paul Yoder now as if dear lord he’d never exist. Proof being his Building of his Pumpkin Farm. Our farm is very Beautiful, Annie were thinking to yourself.
