About this ebook
Joey was just an average guy, living an average life, in suburban Australia. When he got news that his deadbeat dad was dead, but had left him a small inheritance, he headed to the US to gain some life experience.
He'd never expected he'd also gain the knowledge that shifters exist. To gain not one, but five lovers. Or to gain a pack of his own. But this was somehow his life now.
The Golden Valley Pack are made up of outcasts, shunned by other shifters, but fiercely loyal to one another. They live together, they run together, and then they play together. They also have filthy, furry, fun together. It's everything that a human like Joey never knew he needed, but now can't live without.
By The Light of the Full Moon is a paranormal gay poly novella with found family vibes, sweet shifters in love, and features sexy times in semi-shifted form. If any of this offends you, this novella may not be for you.

Notes and Warnings
image-placeholderPlease note that the main character is Australian and therefore Australian English has been used for this story, even though it is set in the United States. The main character also uses Australian idioms and terminology. This has been done deliberately, since the story is told from his POV and this is how he thinks. You will come across different terms for things than you may be used to—for example, car park instead of parking lot, and capsicum instead of pepper.
This story contains mature content, including graphic sexual content between multiple men—six in total. It also involves sexual activity that takes place when the paranormal characters are in their partially shifted forms. Whilst partially and fully shifted, they still retain their human cognitive abilities and therefore are fully aware and consenting.
There are also some questionable decisions made, off page, by an underage character that causes other characters distress.
If any of this will make you uncomfortable, you are advised that this book may not be for you.
This is a revised edition of this story. Changes made pertain to scenes of an adult nature to make content suitable for a broader audience.

Chapter 1
image-placeholderFour years ago
Up until four years ago, Joey Hedland hadn’t known that shifters existed. In fact, he had absolutely no knowledge that paranormal creatures were more than simply myth and movie staples. He was camping—somewhat illegally—in a state forest in Bum Fuck Nowhere, Washington, and he was staring up at the full moon through the trees when he heard an odd noise.
And that’s when his life changed forever.
His life in Perth, Western Australia—officially dubbed Dullsville
—was as normal as could be. As was he. Average height, average weight, with plain blue eyes, and plain brown hair that turned blond on the tips during summer. He lived in an average suburb, north of the river, and he had opinions about those who lived south of the river—it was a Perth thing. He didn’t play footy or cricket, he never seemed to have the time, but he’d watch the games on telly while having a beer with mates. He studied part-time at TAFE while working at Woolies to pay the bills, and he built custom PCs in his spare time for a bit of spending money.
It wasn’t a glamorous life at all. It was just . . . average. He’d been happy and content, if a little stagnant. Then he’d gotten word that his dad—who had up and left him and his mum when he was little—had died. Apparently, he’d been living in the States, and he’d left everything he had to Joey.
The lawyer managing the estate had said that he could sell the assets and transfer the cash to Joey’s Australian bank account—minus his exorbitant fees, of course—and Joey wouldn’t have to do anything at all.
After taking a long, hard look at his life, Joey began to contemplate broadening his horizons. His mum, bless her cotton socks, had encouraged him in her blunt but supportive manner to spread his wings. You’re twenty-four years old and your strongest opinion is that Midland is more feral than Rockingham. You need to live a little, for Christ’s sake.
Those were her exact words.
So Joey had told the lawyer to sell everything, and once the money was in his account, he’d booked a one-way plane ticket to the States with the intention to buy a cheap car, travel across the country, and live off the inheritance that his no-good father had left him as recompense for being a shitty dad. It was a large enough sum that he’d be set for a couple of years if he was careful. The experiences he’d gain and the adventures he’d have would hopefully broaden his horizons and make him a better man.
And that’s what he’d been doing when he learned that shifters were real.
He’d set up his camp for the night, off the beaten path in a random state forest, and was staring up at the full moon when he heard an odd noise from the trees. He’d seen enough horror movies to know that wandering off into the woods to investigate strange noises was a quick and efficient way to end up dead, so he pretended that he didn’t hear the rustling and heavy breathing, and tried to make himself as quiet and small as possible. He’d not bothered with a campfire so he wouldn’t draw the attention of park rangers, and now he hoped he’d also go unnoticed by whatever was lurking in the dark.
The noises didn’t disappear. Instead, they got louder. Like whatever was making them was getting closer. It was at about this time that Joey started to seriously contemplate packing his gear into the car and getting the hell out of there, when a freaking wolf ran into the clearing where he was camped.
The wolf was huge. In his head, Joey had pictured them to be about the size of a husky or malamute, but this thing was easily twice the size of a large dog. It was too dark to see what colour its fur was, and frankly, Joey didn’t give a shit. He froze, trying to not even breathe so the wolf wouldn’t notice him, but luckily, it seemed intent on watching back the way it had come, as if waiting for something.
That something appeared a moment later, in the form of a man. A naked man. A naked man with a raging boner.
The wolf yipped and ran forward a few steps as if urging the man to chase after him. The man laughed and darted forward, the muscles of his strong body rippling. His long hair was caught up in a messy bun on top of his head, a short beard covered his cheeks, and his white teeth glinted in the moonlight. The wolf darted sideways and the man followed, both of them so busy with their chase that they still hadn’t noticed Joey on the other side of the clearing.
Joey fully expected the wolf to either attack the man or run away, but it seemed happy to continue playing with him. In fact, from the looks of it, he—for Joey could now see that it was very much a he—seemed excited by the game. More excited than a game should make him. The man finally caught the wolf and fell down on top of it, and . . . holy shit, was he actually doing what Joey thought he was?
Shocked enough to draw attention to himself, Joey lunged to his feet and shouted. What the actual fuck, man? Leave that poor thing alone!
Both man and wolf jerked apart from one another and turned, wide-eyed, to stare at Joey. What are you doing here?
the man demanded in a deep, rough voice, one hand digging into the thick fur on the wolf’s neck as they stood side by side.
That’s not important, you sick fuck!
Joey yelled, not caring that the man was much, much bigger than he was, and that he was very much alone in the woods with said sick fuck and his wolf . . . lover? Victim?
