Preface
I was inspired to write these books while on my pageant journey. I believe you can do anything you set your mind to, and I prove it every day. The girls in this series are like me and you—just regular, fun-loving girls who want to be nice, respectful, and make a difference in the world.
It is my hope that young ladies who experience being different find my presentation of their uniqueness an inspiration to be proud of who they are and to wear that unique quality as a badge of honor—or a big ostrich feather in a spring hat.

Chapter 1
It's Tuesday morning at the Carter house, and the school bell rang in an hour and thirty minutes. Today was going to be one of those days—I could tell. I didn't feel like getting out of bed, getting dressed, or seeing anyone today. I didn't even want to go to school or explain why I didn't feel like it. I'd rather stay home. That's not going to be good enough for Mom or for school, though, I was sure. Besides, the girls wanted to eat out today, and I'd hate to miss it, but I was just not feeling like it. Um, I'd argue with myself sometimes.
Oh, uh, oh!
I started complaining.
Girl! What is wrong with you? Why are you moaning and groaning? We're already late. Let's go!
said Charming.
