The nights had never seemed so bad for her as she looked around the darkness of her backyard. It had been her go to place that was somewhere in between a place of peace and a headache that she had to live with as the weeds and all would try and reclaim the area she had transformed. It was somewhere in between those two things on the best of days, but late in the darkness of the night it seemed there was something there .something she could not see, but she could feel almost as if there were eyes staring at her to the point she could sense it. There was nothing there, though. The  feeling did not retreat from her brain when she went inside the house and made sure the doors and windows were locked.

The darkness of the night had often left like a comforting blanket, but it seemed now there was something there that was plaguing her but she did not feel afraid of whatever it was. She did not understand it. The feeling of being watched was there every time she stepped out the door. Almost as if the portal was the thing protecting her. It was not until this night when the feeling became too much for her. The door did not seem to save her. Living the elements outside was not helping her. The only thing she could do was move to where she might be able to rest.

After a hot shower, she was not ready to sleep though her body said otherwise. She laid down in her bed and let her eyes close on their own as she was trying at least to listen to herself for once. There was no telling on when she fell deep asleep. It could have been minutes to hours, but when she woke up, she was gasping for air. She was scrambling to figure out where she was for a minute. The panic in her own head was something she had to talk herself down from. She knew she was in her bedroom.
