Family Ties With The Right Guy - Cardi' Heart's

    Chapter 1

Maya woken up and prepared for her day, starting with a refreshing shower. After drying off, she excitedly chose a light pink suit from her closet, thrilled to finally try it on. The suit fitted her perfectly, and after styling her hair and applying some makeup, she felt ready to face the day.

Living in a good neighborhood, Maya enjoyed the comfort of her three-bedroom house, but soon her phone rang. It was her twin brother, Mason, checking in. They had been inseparable since their adoption, and he suggested meeting for lunch. Maya replied that she wasn’t sure when her interview would wrap up but promised to keep him updated.

After their conversation, Maya made her way to the interview location, a tall building that loomed ahead of her. She felt a mix of excitement and nerves as she prepared to enter, determined to make a good impression.."

Greg staples? The employee said. Maya was filled with nerves as she prepared for her interview with Greg Staples, the highly successful billionaire. After a brief moment of anxiety, she followed an employee to Greg’s office, where she found him gazing out at the bustling city of New York.

Upon entering, she greeted him, and he returned her salutation with a warm acknowledgment that held her gaze. Greg invited her to sit down and asked her to share a bit about herself and her reasons for applying to the firm.

Maya explained her journey, mentioning her roots in Chicago, her move to New York with her twin brother, and her five years of experience doing hair, a profession she enjoyed. However, she revealed that her true passion had always been law, a field she was eager to explore further. She even offered to show him her law degree as proof of her commitment.

Greg, however, was already impressed with her background and assured her that he believed she would be a great fit for the team, having reviewed her credentials prior to the meeting. Seriously, Maya said getting excited

Yes, I’m serious. So you from Chicago? Which part? Greg said

    West Maya said

I’m from the south, Greg said

    Small world, Maya said

    Yeah, it is, Greg said

    Favorite color pink Greg asked

    Yeah, Maya said

I can tell, Greg said looking at Maya’s eyes

Mr. Staples your next appointment is here, his employee said

Cancel it, I’m not finished here, Greg said

OH no, I can go. I know it’s more important than having this interview with me Maya said getting up. During a brief interview, Maya and Greg found themselves in an intriguing exchange. Greg, curious about Maya, expressed his desire to know more about her, but she felt she had little to reveal. As the conversation progressed, Greg’s attraction to Maya became evident, especially as he noticed her nervous habit of biting her lip. Just as things were heating up between them, Greg’s phone rang, prompting him to end the conversation. He informed Maya that he would call her the next day for a follow-up interview.

As Maya left, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of enchantment she felt towards Greg despite their short encounter. His tall, dark-skinned physique and charming demeanor lingered in her mind. Once she was back in her car, her initial nervousness faded into relief, and she realized she was starting to fall for him. Feeling compelled to share the moment with someone, she called her brother, inviting him to their favorite spot, eager to process the unexpected connection she had just experienced with Greg.

Maya pulls up to her favorite restaurant, seeing her brother was already there with his girlfriend. Hey yall. Thought it was just gone be me and you.? Maya asked

My bad, sis. It was already Eleven. I ain’t know if you were going to come or not Mason said

    Hey Maya, Nia said

    What’s sup nia, Maya said

How did the interview go? Mason asked

Great. I got the job. But the way it went, I don’t know. Like I fell in love with in 20 minutes Maya said

    What? Mason said, looking confused

So I had an interview with Greg Staples, Maya said

The Greg staples. The most-paid billionaire in New York? Nia said

    Yeah him, Maya said smiling

Okay, so what happened? Mason said still confused

I mean an interview is an interview. But the way he was looking at Me and wanting to know more about Me. Kind of shifted everything, Maya was talking to her Brother and sister, discussing her recent encounter with a billionaire, which sparked playful banter among them. Nia teased her about it being love at first sight, but Mason was more cautious, expressing concern about Maya getting her heart broken. Maya insisted that she was fine, suggesting it might have just been her perception rather than any mutual feelings. Nia, however, humorously disagreed, implying that both Maya and the billionaire had feelings for each other.

Despite Mason’s protective nature, Nia defended Maya’s right to find love, prompting Maya to join in the laughter. Their jovial conversation shifted when Maya received a message from Greg Staples, reminding her of an appointment the next day. She confirmed she’d be there but chose not to respond to his request to call him Greg. As she wrapped up her time with her friends, Maya said her goodbyes and headed to her car, where her phone began to ring, signaling that her day was far from over.Hey boo, Maya answered

Hey wasn’t gone text me this morning? Don’t play with me. How did the interview go? Tina said

I think I fell in love with the most-paid billionaire in New York, Maya said

Bitch don’t say you had a direct interview with Greg the staples? Tina said

    Yes, Maya said

    Girl what? Tina said

He wanted to know more about Me. But, fuck all that I can tell you in person. Meet up? Maya asked

Yeah we can meet up around eight. I’m still on this job, Tina said

Okay boo. Talk to you later. Love you Maya said

Love you more, Tina said hanging up.

It was already 2. So, Maya went and got her hair, nails, and feet done. Then she went to the mall and shopped around by herself. Once she left  out the mall she pulls up to not see Tina car. Maya was feeling impatient as she waited for her best friend, Tina, to arrive. After spending 25 minutes in her car outside Tina’s house, she got out and approached the door, only to realize that Tina still wasn’t home. Frustrated, Maya let herself in to change and get ready.

For over ten years, Maya and Tina had shared a close friendship, often alternating stays at each other’s houses. When Tina moved from Chicago to New York two years ago, it was to be nearer to Maya.

Once Tina returned and saw Maya’s car parked outside, she hurried inside. Maya, how long have you been here? she asked. Maya crossed her arms, exasperated. It feels like forever. You said 8, and now it’s 10.

Tina apologized, explaining she got caught up. Maya wasn’t having it, insisting they still go out despite the delay. Get dressed! You’ve left me waiting, she chided.

As the banter continued, Tina playfully threatened to jump on Maya and tossed a pillow at her instead, laughing. Take a shot, crybaby! she joked as she walked away, showcasing the lighthearted chemistry that defined their friendship.

10 minutes passed, and Tina walked out with this red dress on. Tina was mixed. Long hair hazel eyes slim thick is what Maya calls her.

Okay slim thick. Where are we going? Maya said

To this club called Licks. And I got a dress for you that I bought with shoes to match in the room. So go change Tina said

Bitch what. You know I love your surprises Maya said rushing to the back. Maya looked at this dress it was light purple fitted dressed with some high silver heels.

Damn, Maya said as she puts the dress on and it fitted perfectly. Maya walked out to the living room

Now that’s what I call a bad bitch Tina said

I love it best, Maya said with teary eyes. Maya and Tina shared a heartfelt moment before deciding to head to Licks, their favorite spot. It took them about 20 minutes to arrive, but when they pulled up, they found a long line outside.

Damn, it’s packed, Tina remarked, but thanks to her connection with the bouncer, they were able to skip the wait.

Y’all good. Go on in, the security guard said, allowing them immediate entry. Once inside, Maya made her way to rent a VIP section but was momentarily halted by a familiar voice. Turning around, she faced her ex, Shawn, who complimented her on her appearance.

Thank you. Bye, she replied curtly, eager to move on.

Reaching the VIP area, she joined Tina and the other girls—Ashley, Tiffany, and Sam—who warmly greeted her.

So, I got a VIP section because you know we baddies, Maya laughed, and the group embraced the celebration. For the next three hours, they danced, enjoyed each other’s company, and reveled in a night filled with laughter and fun. After an enjoyable night out, Maya and her friend Tina found themselves feeling the effects of their drinks as they headed home from the club. Despite their drunkenness, they shared laughter about encounters with an ex, Sean, whom Tina never liked. The ride back was quiet, with Maya joking about their state, and Tina amused but a little regretful for being the one behind the wheel.

    Chapter 2

The next morning, Maya woke to the blaring alarm and the aftermath of a hangover. She took a quick shower, but the nausea lingered. Determined to look and feel like a boss for her upcoming interview, she chose a sleek all-black suit paired with striking red silk heel boots. Before heading to the interview, she made a stop at her favorite coffee shop where the barista knew her order by heart. As she took a seat, she felt a mix of anticipation and nerves, ready to tackle the day ahead. your coffee, the employee said

Maya got up to grab her coffee, but someone else was reaching for the same cup as her. Maya looked up to see Greg right in front of her. I’m sorry, Maya said, looking up.

Sorry, huh? Greg said, looking down at Maya

Shit. What are you doing here? Maya asked

What do you mean? I get coffee here all the time, Greg said

Funny cause I never seen you in here, Maya said, squinting her eyes. She knows he never in here.

Cause I don’t usually come in here to get it. I have my driver do. Greg said

    Ohh, Maya said

Here, take the coffee. You do get an interview in less than 20 minutes, Greg said

Yeah, thanks. I thought you were interviewing me again? She asked

I was. But I got other things to handle, Greg said

Okay, I’ll be seeing you then, Maya said. As Maya was about to walk away, Greg grabbed Maya’s hand slightly

I want to get to know more about you, Greg said, pulling Maya towards him

There’s nothing to know as I said before, Maya said nervously, swallowing her spit.

Have dinner with me? Greg asked

Dinner? Maya asked in shock mostly.

Yeah. Just call my number when you are ready for that date. No pressure. You got my real number, Greg said. Walking away, Maya looked shocked. She thought it was just all in her head the first time Greg interviewed her. Maya left right after Greg to make it to her interview. Nice to see you again, Ms. Sims this way. They walked back into another section than yesterday

She’s in there waiting on you, the employee said. Maya walked in and saw an old face from years ago.

    Wow, Maya said

Yeah, WOW. Look who here looking for a job, Monica said. Maya and Monica had beef back in Chicago. She thought she would never see this girl again, a day in her life.

Correction trying something new. I already have a job, baby, Maya said

Then why are you here? Monica asked

You heard me, Maya said. Monica laughed as she sat down in her seat.

    Sit Ms. Sims,

Tell me why you applied? Monica asked, holding the pen in her mouth.

Cause I would like to try something new for once,

    Sounds desperate to me,

You still must have a problem from years ago, Maya said

No bitch our problem Monica whisper loudly

Watch your mouth ugly, Maya said getting up. Maya got up ready to charge at Monica but she remembered where she was and sat down

    Ugly. Never Monica said

Seems like you won’t be a good fit in here so goodbye, Monica said smartly

Bitch so, I get money as you know, Maya said laughing walking out. Maya made her way to the front door when she was stopped by Greg.

    Ms. Sims, He said.

Greg, as she kept walking. Greg was puzzled when Maya abruptly walked out, clearly upset. Concerned, he headed to Monica’s office to find out what had happened. He asked her why Maya had stormed off, and Monica seized the opportunity to present herself in a favorable light, hoping to attract Greg’s attention. She suggested that Maya wasn’t a good fit for the job, claiming Maya had an attitude from the start.

Greg, however, remembered a different impression from their earlier encounter and decided to give Maya a call. He was determined to understand her perspective.

Meanwhile, Maya was in her car, driving home when Greg’s call came through. Her response was somewhat curt, indicating her dissatisfaction. She expressed her doubt about fitting in at the office, but Greg pressed her for answers, wanting to know why she felt that way. Maya firmly reiterated her unwillingness to work there, insisting that it wouldn’t end well.

In a surprising turn, Greg instructed her to be ready at 8 the next morning, offering no explanation. When Maya questioned him, his reply was simple yet insistent—no room for discussion.

I’ll be to pick you up, Greg said before hanging up. Maya was confused about how Greg even knew where she stay, but the thought of this bitch Monica working at his office is a whole other level. Maya picked up her phone and called Tina.

    What’s up boo? Tina said

So I went to the interview and guess who the fuck interviewed me? Maya
