We crouched together in the dark alcove, the world outside fading away as I focused on Amir beside me.

His presence was a comforting balm against the chaos of the night.

The sound of footsteps grew louder, and I felt my heart race—not just from fear but from the intensity of the moment we were sharing.

What if they find us? I whispered, glancing up at Amir.

He leaned closer, brushing his lips against my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

His words washed over me, soothing my anxiety.

As the footsteps faded into the distance, I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

Amir’s eyes bore into mine, and in that moment, the danger felt miles away.

Do you think it’s over? I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

For now, he replied, his tone low and serious. But we can’t stay here too long.

I nodded, but a different urgency stirred within me.

I shifted closer to him, drawn by an unseen force.

Amir, I began, my voice shaky. I—

But before I could finish, he leaned in, capturing my lips with his.

The kiss was soft at first, almost tentative, but it quickly deepened as the heat between us surged.

I melted into him, my hands finding their way to his hair, pulling him closer.

Kissing Mariana felt like setting fire to my very soul.
