Until The Moon Ends - Kitt Lynn

    The Madra Village

    Tzidal

I stood at the edge of the field, watching the old woman sob and wail, her arms coated in a thick layer of sticky blood. She rocked to and fro on her knees, her hair falling from its tight bun and into her tear-streaked face. My wolf whimpered as she ghosted her trembling hands over the shredded remains of her only son.

An alpha, one of the village guards, wrapped an arm around the poor woman's middle and pulled her away. Her painful screams sliced through the cool afternoon breeze, making my heart ache.

It was awful watching her grief unfold, but I couldn't pull my eyes away. The devastation pulsating off the poor woman was too consuming. It demanded my attention.

The hair along the back of my neck prickled as I sensed a familiar presence at my shoulder. I didn't bother to turn when my closest friend hooked an arm around my waist.

It's just so horrible, Sade whispered. I can't believe something like this could happen here.

Nodding, I watched the guards carry away the grieving mother, and tossed a few blankets over the mangled corpse.

Even though Madra was one of the larger werewolf colonies, our village was still very safe compared to many surrounding cities. Alphas settled fights and grudges outside the border. Things like this just didn't happen within our walls.

Omegas! the guard yelled, causing me to jump. You don't need to see this. Go on.

He's right, Tzidal, Sade whispered, pulling at my waist. We don't need to see this.

I nodded silently in agreement and allowed my friend to lead me away, lacing our fingers together. My mind raced as she babbled and gossiped the entire way into the village square, but I couldn't focus on her words. I knew the dead wolf. Sander was a massive alpha. Tall and strong. He was known for showing off the scars on his chest and back that he obtained from one of his many fights beyond the border walls. He would not have gone down easy.

What disturbed me the most was the state of his remains. Whoever did this had no compassion in their bones. Sander's body held deep, ripping gashes all over his torso and legs. The kind of wounds that injured but didn't kill. His attacker clearly played with the alpha, inflicting a disturbing amount of pain before ending his life.

Why would anyone do something like that?

I tried blocking out my disturbing thoughts and focusing on Sade's excited chatter, but fear swirled within me, making my wolf whimper and skin itch.

When I woke this morning, I could feel a change in the air, thinking it must mean my mate would be returning home soon. Now I wondered if that feeling could have had an angrier meaning. Something dark had found its way into the village, and it scared me to think what might happen if it wasn't found.

I shook my head and tried focusing on better things. My mate, Korban, was due home any day now. He left only a month after our mating to patrol the northern border for the King, something our younger alphas did every year. The passing months without him had been agony. I was a mated omega living with my parents, who frequently forgot I was no longer a pup. I had lingered at the border gates almost every day since the trees started to bud, waiting for him to return.

Sade and I made our way into the village square and toward the stores. The merchant house was bustling. Lots of gruff wolves were stocking up on supplies and growling aggressively at one another when certain items appeared to be in short supply. The whole space was crowded, loud, and hot.

I waited patiently at the counter for Sade to pick up supplies for her father. I hoped she would be quick so we could get out to the gates. I wanted to ask the scouts if they had received any sign of our alphas returning.

I heard the Winter Wolves are returning today, Sade cooed as if reading my mind. She leaned over the counter, kicking her feet playfully behind her.

What? When did you hear that? How could you not tell me?

My brother heard it from the scouts last night when he was on duty. They should be home some time today or tomorrow.

My heart raced with anticipation at the thought of seeing Korban's beautiful face and feeling his large hands roam all over my body. I closed my eyes, lost in the memory of our last night together. I unconsciously pressed my thighs together, and my spine tingled. Forcing my eyes back open, I was suddenly all too aware of the throng of hostile wolves rushing around me.

Good afternoon, Beta Dane, Sade said as she slid a list of supplies across the counter to the old wolf.

Omega Sade, Omega Tzidal, he nodded. How are you today?

    Excellent, thank you, Sade chirped.

I nodded politely and glanced sideways at a large alpha a few feet from me. He dragged his gaze up and down my body, licking his lips slowly. I flipped my long, dark hair over my shoulder, showing off the prominent mating bite just beneath my ear. The alpha eyed it hard before turning on his heel and stomping away.

The store seems filled with a lot of unknown wolves today, I said, watching the alpha disappear out the front door.

I take it you didn't hear about Sander? Dane asked.

We saw him, Sade whispered, her brown eyes deep and sad.

The beta gasped. They said it was just awful. His face was grim, but a slight trace of excitement flashed in his eyes at discussing such savage news. Apparently, his sister found him completely ripped to pieces. The Pack Alpha is offering a hefty reward for the capture of whoever did it. He doesn't like the idea of wolves capable of such things taking up residence in his village.

It's true, I said. His attackers weren't kind at all.

They think it might have been rogues. Dane gave me a pointed look. So don't stray far from the village center, he warned.

We both nodded quickly. Omegas barely had the strength to fight off a cold, let alone savage alphas.

Are you excited for Korban to return? he asked.

Oh yes, I smiled at the beta's sudden turn in topic. He obviously wasn't too eager to return to his other, more aggressive clients.

I heard they might be returning any minute.

Really?! I yelled, bouncing on the balls of my feet.

Not waiting for the beta to respond, I ducked through the crowd, right out the door, and straight to the front of the village, abandoning Sade behind me. I reached the large iron gate and looked around, biting my bottom lip in anticipation.

Alphas stomped through the streets, some hauling large kills. A few betas tended to their shops, haggling with customers and shouting out prices to attract onlookers. But the most excitement came from a group of omegas. They were bunched together in a tight group next to the gate, chatting and giggling. A few spoke excitedly with the aggravated guards. The energy they radiated was a bit overwhelming.

I sat along the side of the road, several paces down, deciding to keep my distance. I had nothing against the other omegas in my pack, but the attention they were receiving from some of the nearby wolves made me uneasy. There were too many strangers wandering around the market today.

The day wore on, and it felt like I had been waiting for hours. The crowd around me began to thin as dusk settled. Alphas ventured out of the gates to patrol the surrounding area, taking most of the noise with them. The majority of the shops closed for the day, and most of the omegas gave up on waiting for their mates and shuffled off to their homes.

I picked up a few small pebbles at my feet and tossed them, watching them bounce and skip across the dirt. Once there were no more within reach, I huffed loudly and rubbed the back of my neck.

    Patience, my sweet omega.

I spun around. Korban! I squealed, flinging myself into his open arms and wrapping my legs around his waist. You're home, I whispered, burying my nose deep into his neck.

I'm home, he laughed. The vibrations radiating off his chest caused my toes to curl.

He looked good. He looked tired but so very good. His sandy hair had gotten so much longer, and his complexion was very dark. The last several months of roaming without shelter had left his perfect skin an even deeper shade that called to my wolf. I wanted desperately to lick every inch of him to see if he tasted the same.

Korban tangled a hand in my dark, wavy tresses and gently pulled my head back. He looked over my face, and his eyes settled on my lips. He smiled briefly before plunging into my mouth.

    He tasted so sweet.

    To The Meadow

    Tzidal

Korban's hands groped my thighs and roamed to squeeze the curve of my backside. Let's go home, he growled against my mouth.

No! I urged. My parents... I gave him a coy smile.

Since Korban had to leave so soon after our bonding, we had decided to wait to claim our own home until after he returned. Being a newly mated couple and forced to keep our hands to ourselves when my parents were home was more than challenging. So instead, we frequently ran off to the edge of the boundary line to talk and make love.

It was the perfect place. A small open meadow with a few willow trees that had grown together to create a curtain of privacy from any onlookers, not that there ever were any. No one liked to venture that far away from the village square, especially after dusk.

Shall we go to our spot? Korban asked, kissing along my neck and sucking softly over his mating bite.

Yes, I gasped, arousal already pooling between my legs.

Korban chuckled, deep and rough in his chest. My goodness, how I missed him.

He sat me on my feet and grabbed my hand, pulling me through the village. I giggled and sprinted after him. My alpha was barely running while I was almost out of breath. His long, toned legs carried him quickly past the shops and cabins and into the tree line. He held my hand firmly in his, pulling me gently behind him.

We raced through the brush and past the wooden bridge over the stream and deep into the woods, stopping when we finally caught sight of the cluster of willows. It was just as it had been last fall. Only now, the buds on the low-hanging branches were green, signaling a new beginning. The last of the day's sunlight settled beyond the trees, leaving only the glow of the Moon to illuminate everything around us.

I leaned into my mate as he pulled me off my feet. He kissed my neck, carrying me behind the curtain of branches. In the center of the willows, a soft patch of grass grew, lush and thick. A sweet patch of land, perfect for secret passions.

I missed you, Korban moaned against my lips, running his thumb along my jaw.

    Show me, I whispered.

He pressed me firmly to the ground, kissing me hard. His lips were soft and warm, urgent and strong. I kissed him back, moaning against his hungry mouth. Our tongues moved together, twisting and teasing as one.

Korban sucked on my bottom lip, letting it snap gently back into place. Then he groaned low in his throat, taking in my flushed appearance.

He quickly pulled off his shirt and pants before turning his attention back to me. He took hold of my waist and dragged his hands up my stomach, pushing my shirt up with them. He stopped just beneath my breasts and paused, giving me a wicked smile.

Stop teasing me, you brute, I giggled.

He let out a quick chuckle before pulling my shirt off, exposing my breasts. He hummed as he looked over my naked flesh. My body tingled from the look in his eyes, and I pressed my thighs together.

Moving back over me, he sucked at the mating bite on my neck. His firm chest pressed into mine, his skin soft and warm. Fuck, you smell so good, he moaned. So fucking good.

His deep voice vibrated against my skin, making my core burn with desire. I reached out, clutching his shoulders, needing him closer. I ran my fingers over the broad expanse of his back, gasping when he pushed his hard length against my hip.

Korban, please, I begged, my breath quickening by the second.

It had been so long. Too long. I needed to feel him. Smell him. Make love to him. Now.

My core pulsed with anticipation as he slowly pulled my pants down my legs. His hands grazed over my skin, goosebumps dancing in the wake of his touch. He moved over me and pushed his face into my stomach, inhaling deeply. Sucking long and hard just beneath my belly button, he left a dark, beautiful mark.

I need you, I moaned as he sucked each one of my nipples into his mouth. I gasped and threaded my fingers through his hair, then tugged at the roots, pulling a deep rumble from his throat. The vibrations washed over my skin, and my core tightened in anticipation.

Sensing my desperation, Korban grabbed my thighs and wrapped my ankles around his waist. He slid his cock between my wet folds, moving the tip up and down and circling my clit before sinking deep into my hungry body.

Ugh! I gasped, loving the way he stretched me open. Please, alpha. Please...move.

He quickly obliged, rolling his hips forward. I moaned, long and wild. I could feel every inch of him deep inside, throbbing hard with each snap of his hips. The coil in my stomach began to twist and burn, my eyes watering at the intense sensations he was pulling out of me.

Oh, baby, he growled in my ear.

He palmed my breast and pulled at my nipple, rolling the sensitive bud between his fingers. I yelled out and arched my back as his thrusts picked up, becoming more forceful and frantic. My core tightened, dangerously close to shattering apart into a million pieces.

Korban...ugh...please, faster, I gasped, fisting his hair.

He growled and began pounding into me harder and faster. My body tensed, and thighs shook as I unraveled around his thick girth. The ripples of my orgasm rushed through my body, prickling along my spine and curling my toes.

My mate growled loud and deep above me as his hips hammered against my spiraling body. His thrusts became sloppy and he suddenly stilled, his knot taking hold. A gush of fluid pushed out around his throbbing member as he filled me deep to bursting.

Fuck, he mumbled, throwing his head back, his eyes closed. Fuck, I missed you.

His chest fell gently on top of me, and he pushed his nose into my throat. My flesh pulsed in the aftermath of my orgasm as he sucked and nosed at my sweaty skin. I had longed for this, his smell, his taste, his passion.

Korban kissed me, moving our mouths together in perfect unison, softly tasting and feeling me. When he pulled back, all I could see was love.

He gently bumped his nose into mine, then moved down to trace my lips with his tongue, inhaling my breath.

Never leave me again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him softly.

I couldn't help the tears that clung to my eyelashes. It was so stupid wanting to cry, but my whole body thrummed with emotion. My mate was home, and I would get to feel his arms around me every night from this moment forward. Bliss was the only way I could describe how I felt right now.

My alpha held me gently as we waited for his knot to go down, whispering and kissing in the moonlight.

I got you something, he mumbled against my skin.

    Yeah?

He slowly pushed himself up, causing me to wince when he was finally able to pull out of me. I was already too empty, wanting to feel him fill my body again.

He grabbed his pants and pulled something small out of the pocket. We traveled near the sea while we were up north, and we met a neighboring pack. Some of their omegas prepared gifts for us as a thank you for protecting the borders. He grabbed my wrist. They call this a pearl.

He opened his hand and placed a small blue stone tied to a leather strap into my palm. I looked at it carefully. It didn't resemble any of the rocks we had here. It looked soft, and it shimmered. It was beautiful.

    I love it, I beamed.

He smiled wide and took the beautiful gift from my hand. He placed the leather strap around my wrist and tied it securely in place. I moved my wrist around, watching the moonlight reflect off the surface of the pearl.

Tzidal, he sighed, pressing his hand to my cheek. I love — He stopped abruptly, his body going tense.

Crouching down, he swept his eyes back and forth over the tree line in the distance. My body tensed, and I reflexively curled into myself. I didn't know what he heard or smelled, alpha's senses were so much better than omega's, but whatever it was, it wasn't good.

Put your clothes on, he said in a firm, hushed tone.

I pulled my shirt over my head and moved to reach for my pants but froze when Korban shifted into his wolf. His bones glided
