Beyond the Temporal Lobe - Rick Smith
Beyond the Temporal Lobe
In the spring of 1956 it was determined by the public school system as a result of the Stanford Binet IQ test that I was some sort of Genius, with some aberration of an IQ way over the norm. I was then left without any semblance of a normal childhood, so in there infinite wisdom, the sages of that time felt it appropriate to separate me from my peers, so I was sent off every school day to a counselor. God forbid I should be in my classroom learning whatever it was I was supposed to learn, so for four hours everyday I was analyzed and forced to answer infantile questions, to suffer loneliness, emptiness and pain. In the end they said I was an underachiever. Why with such a gifted mind couldn’t I comply with there rules, do my assignments and get along well with others. I found myself playing alone and discovered the wonderful world books, stories, dreams & Science fiction. It was then that I found that I could see the future and know way more about the past. I was seeing frequent visitors in the night that showed me how to heal others. I found out that I had an empathic touch. Now the story of my life begins.
Well by now a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. I am now in the summer of my life and by some maybe even the winter, many, many things have changed since my abrupt entry into this world, but this part of the story is about the dream walker in me. These dreams were in fact Reality. About 6 weeks after my 30th birthday I was living what I thought was a pretty normal life, or so I thought. I had been in severe pain after a massive accident crippled my legs. I had a16 hr surgery, during which a visiting Neurosurgeon stepped in to perform micro nerve grafts on both legs and after 14 mths of rehab I could walk again. Seven spinal surgeries three fusion’s and a total hip replacement, it was still hard to live through the pain which I blocked by retreating into a self induced trance state. It was during one of these states I felt I had left my body, I was no longer in my bed, I was in some sort of Lounge and talking with a very attentive younger man. He was very adroit and obviously quite intelligent. We had struck up a profound dialogue of current issues and scientific developments of the day. He seemed to know quite a bit about me, the things I had learned and been part to in my life, almost as if he had read my bio the one I had not written yet. I was more than curious how he had read something I as of yet had not written.
This dream sequence, trance was as real as anything I had experienced in a waking state. It was as if I had stepped through a door to a future reality. I knew I wasn’t Physically there but I could see, feel, smell, all of my senses were running at 100%. The feeling that I was speaking with someone who knew more about me and things that hadn’t even happened yet. It was only after a break in our long conversation that I realized who I was speaking with. Not only did he know almost everything about me he bore a strong resemblance to my side of the family gene pool. I believe he was a great grandson thirty times removed from my time line. It must have been something along those lines as our discussion was referencing a paper I had written outlining a design I had submitted to a
