Introduction
Boxing is a real tough sport; it teaches discipline and will get you into incredible shape. But it’s tough for a reason and the benefits that come with it may seem way too far off from your achievement. You may be intimidated to join a boxing gym, you may be overweight and find yourself laying on the floor after throwing 6 punches, you may be throwing punches that couldn’t knock out a fly and feel frustrated after messing up. I’m sure there are many other reasons that make you want to quit…
But that doesn’t mean you should give up, instead I am here to help you. The common excuses I hear on a daily basis are what stop people achieving their dream body, or standing up to bullies, or whatever it may be. I know what it is like to be in that position where you feel like it won’t work no matter how hard you try, but after years of hard work I am now in a position where I am a Qualified Boxing Coach. I manage to help beginners learn the boxing basics even after hearing every possible excuse out there, and now I am writing to help you.
I assume that you want to learn the boxing basics, great! There are so many paths you can take with boxing and I will do my best to help you. Whether you want to learn to box because you want to get fit, whether you want to improve your self-defense ability, whether you want to get into the ring or whatever you want to achieve through boxing – this book will help you with that. You can even get into boxing without ever getting punched!
Furthermore, I presume that the majority of the reader in the book are novice and inexperienced when it comes to boxing. Some of you may have a little bit of experience, while others have never touched a punching bag. Some of you may have become punching bags in the past. Well, guess what? Boxing can help you in this manner, too, by teaching you to defend yourself during unforeseen circumstances. The bottom line is, you want to learn how to box and progress in life as a fighter and human being. This is your problem, and you’ve come to the right place because I have the solution.
In this book, I will teach how you can change your life and circumstances for the better by learning the fundamentals of boxing. I will educate you on the basics of the sweet science for 30 days, and if you are willing to learn, this education will serve you for the rest of your life and will save you the embarrassment of being a newbie at a boxing gym. You will develop the fighter’s mindset, which will increase your confidence level, teach you to set and work towards goals, and help you to get in shape so you can look in the mirror and see a body that you are proud of.
The following chapters will discuss the many topics of boxing. You will not just learn to throw a good punch or several. I will also educate you about body mechanics, proper footwork, great defense, and putting together winning combinations. I will also teach you about proper diet and nutrition, which will enhance your boxing skills. You will develop a great body and a sharp mind. It takes intelligence to be a good boxer, and you will see why. The best part is that a gym membership is not required. The workouts we go over can be done in the comfort of your home. Of course, if you can find a place with a boxing ring, and various heavy bags, that will certainly be a plus.
After completing this book and following the guidance given, you will be better at holding a proper stance, have much more effective footwork, be knowledgeable in a variety of punches, know what punch to throw and when, and overall have a proper technique. There are various boxing styles that even the professionals employ, and you will learn which one is the best for you. You will get a better workout at home than at the gym. All these training methods and improvements will make a happier and healthier you. You will never see boxing the same way again.
The information doesn’t stop at the end of this book may I add, there is a second part to this book which will take your boxing skills further, help you develop an advanced fighter’s mindset and will teach you on how you can start winning in the ring. There of course is more to this book, but the bottom line of the second part is to help you advance your boxing ability and get you in the ring.
Who am I?
With all of the talking I’ve been doing, I have yet to properly introduce myself. My name is Andrew Hudson, and I have been a boxing trainer for multiple years as well as being a personal trainer. The sport of boxing has been in my blood for so long that I can’t recall a time when it was not a part of who I am. I have helped numerous people personally get into shape and turn their lives around in so many ways. I love helping people, and I have been blessed to be able to do it because of my hard work. After working with so many people over several years, I fully understand how people can change for the good. I have personally witnessed scared, defenseless, and out of shape people who lacked the confidence to become much stronger individuals because they took up boxing and followed my instructions.
As much as I enjoy coaching people face to face, it is hard to find time to help everyone. That is why I have spent many months on my fitness inspired books to help a wider range of people. This is a big change in my life, so I hope that it motivates you to make a change.
I one-hundred percent believe that I can help you change too. I do not say this to be braggadocious. I genuinely want to make you better physically, mentally, emotionally and I am confident it will happen once you learn the fundamentals of boxing, the sport I love so dear. I may be a little bias here, but boxing will help people in every aspect of their lives, in a way
