About this ebook

The book contrasts and compares the theories of the accepted heliocentric model with the lingering old fable of a geocentric model.

The author regresses to the beginning of the conundrum, which he depicts as the Tower of Babel.

Present-day theories are challenged with empirical values put forward, supporting the authors explosive findings and galvanized by captured digital images through the eyepiece of an amateurs telescope.

    About the Author

Condemnation without investigation is the true form of ignorance.

    (Albert Einstein)

    PREFACE

The impetus for documenting this treatise has been born from the nagging attempt to arrive at the unrelenting truth. There has been much speculation and a re-emergent interest in the contentious old-age issue of whether we are playing out existence on a flat disc or living in the illusion of a spinning orb. The writer’s unsure. The uncertainty has given the impetus to delve a little deeper, with the intent of clarifying the conundrum.

For fifty-plus years, I have been taught and have accepted and even promulgated my learning that, indeed, our planet Earth is a blue marble hurtling around the sun at breakneck speed while the moon – 238,000 kilometres above Earth – reflects the sun’s rays, orbits the Earth, and spins ever so slowly from west to east. From fifty years of unchallenged rote learning, to believe my teachings, I am now cautious – perhaps reticent – to proffer any alternative to what I see as a worldly, fixed, concrete belief in the globe.

The observations and the conclusion reached will be of my individual determination. However, the task is to plot historical events as the dot points; for you, the reader, it is to join the dots or – as is your individual choice – to discard the discoveries and my interpretation of the same.

Hopefully, the information disseminated in the chapters of this book will raise your curiosity to enquire further. There are no absolutes in the theories of men and women of this world. There is no such thing as zero risk. However, everything embarked upon is a risk; there is no such thing as a ‘sure thing’, the exception being God’s Word. Alive to the fact and with that in mind, I shall proceed into the uncharted waters.

I anticipate to be confronted by proponents of the globe model with much resistance and denial of observations and perceptions gleaned thus far. I will respectfully ask, ‘Please keep emotion out of any argument.’

Thus, the journey starts, stepping through past events, documented scriptures, and scientific outcomes over time. I suggest you flick in or flick out, whatever fits your paradigm. Trust your gut feeling because the gut has not evolved enough to think.

Onwards and upwards doggedly in the direction of heaven.

    CHAPTER 1

    Existence

Like anyone else, you’re here; you have arrived, like it or not. Another thing one needs to come to grips with is it is your choice all along. The most dangerous journey that you will ever take is, in Dr Karl Kruszelnicki’s opinion, the ten- to twelve-centimetre travel down the birth canal. A slap on the bottom, and you gasp for your first breath.

A jellylike creation initially in need of total dependence – what are you from there? Hence, our conditioning from the environment and ‘vision’ of the world through the five sensors. Each jellylike creation is unique and develops, responding individually to the external environment and the apprehended bias of parents and community in which we grow up.

You are here, whether on a flat earth or a sphere.

Academically approaching our life, the fact that we are here – a drop of ignorance in a sea of knowledge – doing life is existence. An analogy is life can be like a roller coaster, such as the Big Dipper. For some people, life can be terrifying, others find life exhilarating, and there are those in between, the also
