About this ebook

Without a doubt, there are many resources available for business owners to succeed. Unfortunately, most of these resources are too costly, too sophisticated, too wordy, too long, and just not practical enough to make a huge difference. Its More Than a Notion was written to give business owners a simple guidebook to starting the business from an idea to a reality. Amidst the pages of this guidebook is advice from a successful business owner, Paul A. Bax, who strives to prepare people to take care of business so the business can take care of them.

    INTRODUCTION

The first time I published this book, it was set up as a how-to guide. However, after having worked with several for-profit and nonprofit businesses, I am compelled to rewrite this version of It’s More than a Notion. As a result of answering business questions for start-up businesses, handing out advice, and just seeing people try and start a business, I am terribly disappointed to see that more than half the individuals who start businesses do not think about what they’re getting into. They don’t plan, nor do they come up with a strategy to assure the success and longevity of their business. Many of the individuals just rush in without understanding the common pitfalls coming out the gate.

    It’s More than a Notion!

Starting your own business can and will be a lot of work. I am rewriting this book in an attempt to identify the major drawbacks and necessities when starting a business. I am hopeful that I can give you more helpful information in this book than the original version. My first book originally indicated the steps taken to open a business, hints on writing a business plan, procedures to obtain a tax identification number, and many other good tips. This version will expand on those points as well as provide a guide to getting your business intact. It is not intended to tell you what is right or wrong but to offer tips in formulating your idea(s) or concept(s) into practical business planning and operation.
