I so appreciate Cheryl Riley’s testimony in this book to uncover the works of darkness. Cheryl has been part of our church for the past several years. She is not a sensationalist in any sense of the word, but her burden has been to share from her own experiences regarding secret societies and the spiritual danger of belonging to any of them.

I’ve had two nieces that had great physical limitations. My sister, a pastor’s wife, took them for prayer ministry. Nothing was working to bring any release to their physical problems. When the experienced prayer counselor asked if any relative was a part of the Freemasons, their answer was yes. Their paternal grandfather had been a Freemason for many years. Once they asked the Lord to break the power of darkness and asked Jesus for forgiveness for their involvement, their physical limitations disappeared almost immediately. Things they had struggled with for years vanished.

They were set free from the power of darkness. This experience made a great difference in the way my sister and her husband now conduct counseling ministry. Things that we encounter are not all behavioral problems. Many of them are the result of doors opened in our family line through parents, grandparents, and ancestors whose transgressions by participation brought a curse to their descendants. The Scriptures teach this in Exodus 20:5&6 (ESV):

You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, ⁶ but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

I believe this was one of the reasons that Jesus had to be born of a virgin. The generational sin goes through the father’s blood line. Thus, Jesus was spared from the effects of generational sin. The Apostle Paul makes a statement in 2 Corinthians 2:11 about not being outwitted by the tactics of our enemy, Satan. This is how it reads:

so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

After being in pastoral ministry for over 45 years, my experience has been that a great percentage of Christians are totally unaware of
