Zainabu Jallo’s Onions Make Us Cry was first drafted at The Royal Court Theatre London in August 2008, where she was an international Playwright in residence.
In 2009, she was offered a literary fellowship at the Global Arts Village, New Delhi, India where Onions Make Us Cry was first presented.
Winner of the National Theatre Studio London Africa Project, Onions Make Us Cry has received presentations and performances in Lagos, NewYork, UK, and Sweden. It continues touring in newer spaces.
Saraya Dangana, (2008) and Holy Night (2012) are two other plays by the author
She also has a collection of open style poetry, Some of the People I Am.
Zainabu is also a Sundance theatre lab alumni.
