Megat Ahmad Sani Megat Hashim

M. A. Sani was born to Megat Hashim and Tengku Zauyah in the year 1953 in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. After completing his secondary education, he went to Brighton Technical College, the UK for an Ordinary National Diploma course. He graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), the UK in 1977. Much of his time in Manchester was spent outside lecture halls. He studied philosophy, economics, sociology, politics and other branches of humanities in the UMIST and John Rylands Library, Victoria University of Manchester. These years taught him to be an activist, writer, and editor of a journal. Beginning with the year 1982, he studied and developed a number of tools for a better, effective framework and methodology to improve one’s productivity. The year 1986 marked the beginning of the real-world-proving of his management concepts. It is his ardent belief that those lessons of life should be disseminated for posterity. The result is TULIS, an acronym for Transformational Universal Linguistics - Intuitive Semantics. It is a framework, methodology, and toolbox for analysis and design of any entity and its system(s). ImaginIT is a primary tool of TULIS. He can be reached at megatahmadsani@secure.wisenetxc.com and megatahmadsani@gmail.com. Drop him a note for any suggestion or to simply connect with him.

    Do You Need This Book?

Give yourself a 15-second of your precious time to answer the following questions:

    1. Do you want to excel in whatever you do?

    2. Do you want to have a successful life?

    3. Do you want to take control of your destiny?

If you answered no to any of the questions above, you don’t need this book. Congratulations! You’re already on the right track.

If the answer is yes, perhaps you may need this ImaginIT stuff. I said perhaps because, in the final analysis, it is you, my dear readers, who will have to decide whether to spend your money on this book or for a cup of Starbucks coffee ... or both.

I find imagination to be fascinating and extremely useful. Imagination can unlock the keys to hidden treasures. Logic requires structured thinking. Imagination can help you find a dream job. It can help you sell your products or create a market for someone else. It can help you realize your dreams.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

    Preface

You may have hit a brick wall, so to speak. We all have our ups and downs ... perhaps, mostly downs. Our age may have let us down. Friends may have abandoned us. The horizon appears to be cloudy and bleak.

Despair not. Abandon not your hope. Be positive. There is always a silver lining after every storm. We must stand every time we fall. We must pick up the broken pieces and mend them back ... or create new ones.

We need to step back and reflect.

What have I done wrong? What have I done right? Do I have what it takes to undertake a mission and be successful? What kind of resources and preparation do I need?

The answer lies in ourselves. The world revolves around ourselves. But don't take it too literally. Beliefs, credence, actions, behaviors, and habits form the foundation of our life (and living).

We need a toolbox to improve our own selves and surroundings. Imagination is one such a tool.

We need imagination for three reasons:

    1. to define our dreams and visions

    2. as an analytical and design tool

    3. prospect for wealth and prosperity

There are no limits to the powers of imagination. ImaginIT is an embodiment of imagination. It attempts to provide a systematic approach to sets of issues and/or problems.

The original ideas about the technique occurred around the mid-1980s. It has withstood the test of time.

ImaginIT can be applied to all areas of analysis, design, and development. You can imagine about ImaginIT. Just as life has complex dimensions, so are the applications of ImaginIT.

ImaginIT is such a simple tool that it can be deceiving. It consists only 5 steps. You will be tempted to say, I know it! and life goes on as usual. When you hit a wall, only then you might ask What have I done?

Knowing ImaginIT is not the same as using it. When you are faced with a specific issue or problem, you might not know where to start. We learn by associating something with something. That’s the first step. This is the minimum lesson you must not forget ... if you are too busy to learn anything else.

As with any tool, you need to practice it. The next time you are faced with a problem, however simple, put it onto paper or on any software application canvas. Associate, associate ... associate. You have begun your journey as an ImaginIT ninja! Unfortunately, there is no shortcut to success. Should you find it daunting in your first attempt at its practical application, remember this:

    Patience is a virtue.

    Good luck!

    2. a pencil and a piece of paper.

    3. if you imaginative enough, you can draw anything on a virtual canvas ... something only seen by yourself. Caution: do it discreetly! People might think you need to be put in a mental asylum!

    Good luck!

    Introduction

Our work, personal and family life; and our lifestyle compete for our precious time. Even if we had the power to add time to the present 24 hours, the additional workload would just simply overload it. It is a vicious cycle.

For the economy of time, I have divided the book into two (2) sections:

    Section 1: An 8-Minute Guide

    Section 2: Application of ImaginIT

Why an 8-Minute Guide? Most of us have a short attention span. On top of it, we may have problems in memorizing and retrieving data/information/knowledge.

Micro-Learning is about acquiring knowledge in micro steps and elements of a particular information. We break down information into smaller sizes and digest them accordingly. We build superstructures by assembling their elements in a natural order. We try to sustain knowledge-prospecting over a period of time. Short bursts of learning energy are not sustainable.

I have organized the lessons in an 8-minute interval. Of course, it may take longer depending on one’s reading and prospecting styles (or management). How can I be effective?

    Simple! Do this:

    1. Focus on key expression under the heading

    2. Try to understand the intended meanings. Don’t bother to check whether
