~Prologue~
A young couple had lost several babies; several years of trying and it wasn’t working, it had came to where Ambrosine and Alberi were not going to be able to have a child.
A group of women, all wearing long black coats and matching tattoos of the Inverted Pentagram on the side of their necks, made their way to the couples’ house. Without knocking, they invaded the home, causing Ambrosine & Alberi to jump as the women drew closer.
Alberi pushed Ambrosine behind him, guarding her with his body
Out of the way Alberi
The head of the group of women demanded.
What do you want? And how do you know who I am!?
Alberi demanded an answer. Alberi pushed Ambrosine behind him, guarding her with his body.
They are the Dark Coven Alberi.
Ambrosine gritted her teeth. What are you doing here?
Alberi knew one day that this would happen, but did not expect it to happen so soon.
It had been centuries before the Dark Coven had gotten what they longed for, and they had to choose Alberi and Ambrosine as the victims.
If you want the child to live, you will move, Alberi,
the woman replied through a broken grin, ignoring his questions.
No,
he hissed.
Ambrosine felt threatened and was not pleased with the presence of them in her home. You are not welcome in our home!
The woman shook her head and stared at Alberi, not even raising an eyebrow towards him. Alberi slowly fell to his knees, forcing a scream from Ambrosine’s lips, Ambrosine knew the Dark Coven was powerful; their powers have been trained and practiced for years.
Stop it now!
Ambrosine snarled through gritted teeth. She glared at the woman, narrowing her eyes slightly.
The women slid backwards a couple of feet.
You are weak. You and I both know you doing this will only jeopardize the unborns’ health even more,
another woman hastily added.
You know why we are here, and you know that without us, you will never be able to bear or have a child.
I will not allow you to use magic to help me bear a child.
Ambrosine held her ground I did not ask for help from the Dark Coven, and I never would think of asking.
The head of the group walked up to Ambrosine and said, We advise you to stop fighting the fact we can help. We can do this the easy way or the hard way, but one way or another we will do what needs to be done.
The woman grinned when she was done speaking.
No!
Ambrosine shouted, looking at her husband lying on the ground holding his head in pain.
The woman rolled her eyes and extended a hand toward her. Ambrosine threw a hand up in defense but was too far out of practice; slowly falling to her knees, holding her head as if someone was pushing both sides of it together she fell to her side.
Stop!
Ambrosine demanded This shouldn’t be happening, not like this
Ambrosine continued to fight as hard as she could against what the head witch was doing. She stood up fighting the pain in her head. Stumbling to her feet
If you would stop and just agree, none of this would be happening, and no one would be in any pain!
The witch exclaimed You have the choice, either be able to bear the child, or die at our hands, the choice is yours.
Ambrosine started crying. Just do it already, get it over with.
The women quickly huddled around her The head Witch flicked a hand pushing Ambrosine onto her back careful not to damage the child she was carrying they mumbling words while they each held a hand on top of Ambrosine’s stomach. Ambrosine was frozen in place, unable to move, unable to speak, completely helpless to the will of the women who had invaded her home.
After the group of women finished, they hastily made their way out of the house without a word. One of the women turned and looked back at Ambrosine, who was still on the ground, slightly sobbing.
There is always a price to pay,
she said softly But you clearly already know this.
Ambrosine cried I did not want this,
She turned her head to look at the woman, but the woman had already hurried off to catch up to the group.
Nine months later, a beautiful baby boy was born and named Oronn...
~Twenty Years Later~
~Oronn~
There was always something strange about the men that I dated. Not even just the men I dated, but even the ones I found no interest in. They were either extremely clingy or more than one would swarm me at once. I really didn’t understand why. I mean, I understood I was good looking, but come on. It had come to the point where I wouldn’t leave my house. I had planned on talking to my parents about it when they came over tonight for dinner.
Miranda?
I hollered, hoping the maid would be able to hear me.
Coming sir,
she replied from upstairs. A few moments later, she appeared in the kitchen.
Miranda, I need you to go to the store and pick up everything on this list for me for tonight’s dinner,
I said dully as I extended my arm out to hand her the list.
But sir-
she started to protest before I cut her off mid-sentence.
I understand you have a fair amount of cleaning to do before dinner tonight. Don’t worry about all that, I will do it. And must I ask again? Please, call me Oronn.
She only nodded and grabbed the list from my hand along with the credit card. She turned to walk away before I stopped her by speaking again.
Oh and Miranda please feel free to get a casual outfit. I would like you to join us tonight.
Thank you Oronn, I will.
I followed Miranda to the door and we went our separate ways as I headed upstairs to continue cleaning where she had left off. She opened the door and gasped. There were five men standing on my doorstep holding flowers and jewelry. Miranda looked back to me, asking what to do without words.
Just go through them, if you have to come in through the back door when you get back.
I shook my head, and rolled my eyes as I started making my way up the stairs.
Miranda, pushed her way through the small crowd, as the door was almost shut I heard my name called out, in a man’s voice... I knew none of the men standing out there, and I know for a fact none of them knew me. I walked back down the stairs, and locked the door after it closed.
Walking back up the stairs I heard the men talking outside of the door, rolling my eyes I headed to the guest bathroom, everything was pretty much clean she was getting ready to start on the floor, I bend down and grabbed the sponge out of the bucket and started scrubbing the floor.
Oronn, where are you?
a voice outside said.
I ignored the question and finished up the floor, grabbing the cleaning supplies I walked downstairs to finish up the cleaning. I placed the bucket of soapy water in the kitchen sink and got to scrubbing things down in the dining room.
Pausing, I went to make sure the door was locked again, just to be sure, then continued my cleaning. Walking back into the kitchen I looked at the clock, Miranda should be coming back any minute.
I had finally got all the cleaning done. I looked at the clock before sitting on the couch to watch some TV, Miranda had been gone almost three hours, it should have only taken her a half hour.. I got up and pulled back the curtain and looked outside. Her car was there, and the car door was wide open, I moved so I could get a glance at the side yard. Miranda’s body was lifeless and still on the ground, the bags of groceries were scattered everywhere. From what I could see it looked as if she was beaten. I quickly grabbed the phone and called for an ambulance, and police. Also explaining there was a massive amount of men hanging around outside.
I felt bad, but I was not about to go outside in that mess. You could hear sirens in the distance and I went to the living room window, and watched as police officers raced to Miranda and apprehending the crowd of men. Medics quickly followed rushing to Miranda; she was apparently still alive from what I heard from the yelling I was hearing over the group of men.
I watched as three men got put in the back of one cruiser, across the street I saw a man standing watching me, I could feel his eyes glued to me. I took my eyes off him to watch the medics carrying Miranda to the ambulance, looking back to the man across the street, but he had vanished.
A couple police officers were walking up to the house and I met them on the front porch.
Can you tell us exactly what happened here?
one of them asked.
No, I am unsure what exactly happened. I had sent Miranda to get groceries for dinner tonight, but she was gone for a good three hours, I don’t leave the house due to men gathering around me constantly, hence the big crowd of men surrounding my home.
I explained.
––––––––
The officers just wrote everything down. Not really saying much.
––––––––
If we need anything else we will be in touch.
the officer said
I’m always here if you need me
I said with a slight chuckle
––––––––
They looked at me like I was weird and walked off to their cars, the ambulance had already left, and the cruisers were not far behind.
––––––––
Fils de garce!
I shouted
Son of a bitch
––––––––
I had to figure out dinner in less than two hours. I slapped the side of my head, pausing moments after, I guess I could order Chinese, I know mom and dad like that. I walked back into the kitchen rummaging through the drawers drying to find the Chinese pamphlet, after digging for a good five minutes I finally found it, picking up the phone to dial the number the doorbell rings. I looked up at the clock and realized it was seven already, so it was none other than my parents here for dinner. I sat the phone down and walked to answer the door.
––––––––
Bon fils de soirée
my father said as I swung the door open
Good evening son
Les bons du soir
I replied gesturing them inside.
Good evening guys
Donc je commande chinoise voulez-vous comme d'habitude?
I questioned closing the door.
So I’m ordering Chinese do you want the usual?
Oui s'il vous plaît
they both replied in sync
Yes please
––––––––
I dialed the number, and ordered my parents favorites, along with some extras; I however did not order anything for myself. My stomach was twisting and turning, I felt lightheaded, and nauseous, slipping my phone back into my pocket I turned to my parents.
––––––––
Je suis désolé mais je ne vais pas vous rejoindre pour le souper, je ne me sens pas bien et je dois aller se coucha un peu.
I apologized with great sympathy.
I'm sorry but I will not be joining you for supper, I do not feel well and I need to go lay down for a bit.
Faut-il appeler le médecin?
my mom questioned hastily
Do
