It was at school I first began to feel I was just a little bit different; I never quite fitted, and always felt apart from the others; I was a quiet child, therefore I spent a lot of time on my own, in nature, or with my beloved horses; it was whilst I was out walking in the in the countryside one day that I discovered I had somehow been given this astonishing gift of words; it is something I shall never forget.
After that I began some serious writing; within a couple of years I started sending poems off to competitions, and actually had a lot of recognition for them. My confidence grew when in 2003 I won an award from The International Society of Poets, plus recognition as ‘Poet of the Year,’ on many occasions.
My first book ‘Those Summers Long Ago,’ was self-published in 2005, ‘A Crystal Dawn was published in 2006 by ‘United Press,’ then last year it was my turn to win the ‘United Press Christmas poem 2015,’ which was publicised in the local press.view less
