At Hamline University he was awarded departmental honors for his study of science fiction, and he later wrote his master’s thesis on the modern epic fantasy.
Today he lives in southern Minnesota, where, in addition to being an award-winning teacher and theater director, he has written three novels set in the Midwest (Hillcrest Journal, Passing Through Paradise, and Life on the Fly) and the short story collection, Tales from 2 A.M. He now returns to his literary roots with the epic fantasy Heartstone.view less
