He studied science and worked in telecommunicati...view moreDidier Dorne was born in Douai in northern France. A bookworm as a child, he also developed a sensitivity to the beauty of nature. He studied science and worked in telecommunications as an engineer for fifteen years. In 2007, he retrained and joined the teaching profession, fulfilling a life-long dream.
Nurturing his passion for writing since childhood, his first novel was published in 2012: La Cité d’Or. This novel tells the story of an unlikely encounter, budding love, toying with destiny and chance: a true hymn to life. Through this fictional narrative, mixing humour and adventure, along with a nod to anticapitalism, Didier Dorne invites his readers to open their minds, giving them the opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of life.
Didier Dorne is an author who clearly enjoys shifting from one literary genre to another, and does so effortlessly. In 2015 L’héritage de Gaïa was published: a gripping crime novel, tinged with fantasy, filled with twists and turns, read and loved by thousands. Set in the South of France, the author also captures and enhances the wild beauty of the landscape. Many narratives intertwine within the same plot, keeping readers on the edge of their seats, melding the various protagonists’ destinies: a real page turner.
In his third novel, Charlie, les mémoires d’un chien, Didier Dorne recounts the story of three dogs’ maiden journey. In this philosophical and deeply humanist tale, he lets the animals do the talking, offering us an assortment of characters: funny, moving and poetic in equal measures.
