Returning to academics in the 1970s, he decided he wanted to be a history professor, and earned his MA from ASU, then went on to the University of California, Santa Barbara for his Ph.D. In the process, he taught at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Eloy Public Schools, and the University of Wisconsin, Richland Center. In 1985, he was hired at the University of Dayton, where he has taught ever since.view less
