Revisiting our childhoods with my boyfriend. Umm... R.L. Stine's writing is not as impressive as an adult. The constant He sighs, he cries, he mutters, he said, he mumbled, he yelled, he bent over gleefully. lol lt was too much. You don't have to describe EVERY line of dialogue. 3/10 My boyfriend thinks it's a classic even with all of its faults. He is a lot more understanding of this writing than I am. Maybe it was because it's an audiobook. Who knows, it could have felt differently if I was reading it.

The Morris family and their friend Clay get lost and accidentally find the theme park Horrorland. Shortly after parking, the car explodes.

The children, Lizzy, Luke, and Clay, explore the theme park and go on the rides. After a trip where Lizzy is trapped in a coffin and floats down a river, the three try to convince Lizzy and Luke's parents, Carl and Peggy, that they should all leave. The two reveal that they experienced similar problems, so everyone decides to face the Horrors.

After the Morris family and Clay discover that the doors have been shut to prevent their escape, the monsters surround them. Angry, Lizzy tries to remove a monster's mask and discovers it is actually the face of Horror. The Horrors explain that they are real monsters and that the visitors' experiences were part of a television show. As an apology, the monsters say they will lead them to a new car, but they are instead led to carnivorous animals.

After the family survives the animal attack, the monsters try to kill them. Lizzy then remembers the signs inside the park that said "Do not pinch." The visitors proceed to pinch all the monsters, causing them to deflate like balloons.

The Morris family and Clay escape from Horrorland in a different car, but in an unexpected ending, they discover that a Horror clung to the back of the vehicle until they got home. The monster offers them free passes for their next visit. (Translated from Spanish)

The Morris family gets lost while trying to find the theme park Zoo Gardens. But it doesn't matter. They find another amusement park and head towards it with the same excitement they had when they started the trip to Zoo Gardens. It's called Horrorland, but the name doesn't scare them off. There are no lines, and entry is free. It seems like a nice place. But there is something strange about the attractions in Horrorland. Something too chilling, too real... (Translated from Spanish)

First book of the original Nightmare collection. It tells the story of the Norris family, who are heading to the theme park Zoo Garden, but during the trip, they get lost trying to find it and end up at the amusement park Horrorland. It's not like any amusement park; the entrance is free, and the rides are extremely strange and terrifying. I loved it, and the best part is that it's the first of many. (Translated from Spanish)

Lizzie and Luke go for a walk to a park with their parents and Clay, a friend of Luke, not knowing that on the way they would get lost and end up in the wrong amusement park.

Horrorland is just that, a horror park, where you won’t scream from excitement and happiness, but out of fright. The most terrifying attractions are found here, the slides where you can choose the wrong one and end up sliding forever to your death or the house of mirrors from which will you be able to escape?

    ~ Opinion ~
For those of us who had the chance to watch the "Goosebumps" series, this book transports us back to when we were kids and scared out of our minds by the intro music. This series was my favorite along with "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" and from there I spent a great part of my life always looking for and asking for horror movies.

As you may know, these are primarily novels for children, and I think they are ideal to introduce them to horror.

You can’t imagine the excitement I felt reading this story. It is very short and part of a long series also known as "Give Yourself Goosebumps." I found it difficult to locate the novels in print as they are so old that it makes finding them challenging, but they are worth reading if you still have your inner child.

I've been wanting to read R. L. Stine’s novels for a while and with the upcoming release of Fear Street, I told myself (I haven't found that saga either ?).

P.S.: I wanted to start with the first volume, but I got confused and read this one, which is the 16th ?. (Translated from Spanish)

I had such high hopes. I was very curious about why this book series was so popular among young people in the 90s, and I wanted to know what captured their attention... and I don’t see it.

Maybe for a very young audience it’s an incredible horror story. For me, a letdown. It reads very quickly, but the story is so absurd... not even the beginning aligns with the ending (in theory "no one escapes Horrorland"). Very strange, with things pulled out of nowhere that make it seem like a children's version of Scary Movie, where the sense is lost.

I doubt I will be encouraged to read another book in the series. (Translated from Spanish)

Have you ever had days when you don’t know what to read, when you feel overwhelmed after a long day or are stressed and simply don't know which book to choose because you've just come from a book that left you a bit "tired"? Well, that happened to me, and I found the perfect solution.

Years ago, I was aware of the existence of this extensive mystery and horror saga, but each book is independent for young readers, and I just wasn’t motivated to read them. But as I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I found myself completely blocked and discouraged yet eager to read something that would distract me.

While doing a little browsing, I came across the book and my curiosity was piqued, so I decided to read it.

What a surprise I encountered; I liked the book a lot, I enjoyed it from start to finish. It can be read in a couple of hours, but it leaves you completely satisfied. It may be for children, but I believe it is ideal for any age to enjoy.

The author's writing is clean, fluid, fresh, and overflowing with creativity. He creates endearing characters and handles suspense very well; truly, believe me, you can't put the book down until you finish it.

I will definitely continue reading this saga, drop by drop; for those moments when I need to disconnect and to become a child again for a couple of hours. (Translated from Spanish)

Sometimes books can become heavy; sometimes you need to read something light and relaxing to progress through the complicated parts. I was looking for fresh, light, fun reading, and I came across this incredible series of little books. They are short, funny stories with a fascinating touch of horror. I think they're good for all ages, although they are specifically aimed at younger ones. I am amazed by the author's writing style; Stine describes terror very well. I can imagine the horror scene vividly and feel the suspense, but it also feels light and fun. There are many stories, but I like them and will read as many as I can until I get bored. I highly recommend it. (Translated from Spanish)
