About this audiobook
From the dimly lit bars of Columbus,Ohio to the glittering light of Las Vegas, “Vida Nocturnal” is an evocative and deeply personal memoir of Jonathan “JB” Blackwell, who navigates his tumultuous life with equal parts charm and self-destruction.
Baker, a young black man, finds himself caught in the nocturnal world of bars and nightclubs, donning the roles of manager, bartender, and therapist- the “whatever-is-needed” guy. Amidst the haze of alcohol, drugs, easy money and casual relationships, his life rapidly spirals into chaos, and he becomes embroiled in dangerous situations that even lead to him staring down the barrel of a gun.
Relocating to Vegas only intensifies his self-destructive path. The city’s unforgiving vices amplify JB’s alcoholism, leading him to hit rock bottom. When he finally makes the painful journey home, he discovers a changed world. His friends and family have moved on, leaving JB begins to read the Bible, leading him on a spiritual journey that transforms his outlook on life.
However, life throws JB a curveball when he suffers a debilitating stroke that leaves him with limited mobility and speech. In the sterile silence of a hospital room, he encounters a young brother who challenges him to examine the errors of his past. Intrigued, JB begin to read the Bible, leading him on a spiritual journey that transforms his outlook on life.
Feeling touched by divine grace, he embraces the belief that God has given him a second chance. With renewed faith, JB embarks on a new journey, swapping his past life of sin for a future filled with devotion and service to others.
Vida Nocturnal is a stirring exploration of self-discovery, repentance and rebirth. This raw and heartfelt narrative will captivate readers, reminding them of the power of second chances and the transformation potential of faith.
