*Whatever you do, read these in order! This one has big spoilers for the first two, and in the case of these mysteries spoilers matter!*

I think Gibbs realized that there really wasn't much more he could do with this series, and that's why he gave it such a wonderfully satisfying closure. The plot may have been the weakest of the three, but I think it may have been my favorite book because there was even more of the good stuff beyond the adventure.

For example, many of us who've been celebrating the emergence from our mother's womb* for a half decade or more remember the whole 'talk and sing to your houseplants for their health' business. Well, Gibbs reveals that the plants did benefit: from the concentrated carbon dioxide they received. (Not sure if that's confirmed, but at least as a theory it makes terrific sense. And it's a great science fair prompt, for youngsters reading this book.)

It's a good plot, but I don't appreciate homosexuality being put into it.
