About this audiobook

The Headless Horseman forever rides in this immortal classic from Washington Irving.--The story follows a love triangle in the New York countryside in 1790. Sleepy Hollow, a supposedly haunted glen on the outskirts of Tarry Town, is home to the Headless Horseman, said to be the specter of a fallen soldier. Ichabod Crane, a schoolmaster from Connecticut, competes with local hero Abraham 'Brom Bones' Van Brunt for the affections of the young, beautiful, and wealthy Katrina Van Tassel.

Washington Irving

Washington Irving Was born in New York City in 1783. He lived in the United States, England, and Spain (where he served as an American diplomatic attache). I really like the basic premise of this story and I've loved the movies and TV shows that were based on this book. However, some of the ideology has not passed the test of time and can be off-putting and offensive to modern readers.

It is very similar to its Disney animated version, the second story felt a bit tedious to me but is actually quite good. Definitely a book you read very quickly!!!! (Translated from Spanish)

It even makes me a bit ashamed to admit how boring I found this classic. The only thing I highlight about it is the beautiful narration, where the dialogues were unnecessary; but the story itself disappointed me. (Translated from Spanish)

I give it two and a half stars for the entertainment value of the stories. My favorites were "The Devil and Tom Walker," "The Legend of the Arab Astrologer," and "The Legend of the Enchanted Soldier." (Translated from Spanish)

I want to start by saying that it's not my type of reading, but I already had the Disney movie as a reference and those were the mental images I had. In this tale, we learn about a small town where it is said that the ghost of a headless horseman appears. I think the vocabulary might be a bit tedious to read, but aside from that, I found it very interesting and quick to read. (Translated from Spanish)

For being a short book, it felt dense to me and didn’t surprise me. Too much description of everything without getting anywhere and too simple... (Translated from Spanish)

A precious book with a series of stories about Moorish and Christian kings, the mysteries of Granada and its Alhambra, spells, predictions, love affairs, terror, and a bit of everything. Truly a work worthy of reading, with a clear and unparalleled descriptive prose. (Translated from Spanish)

I agree with the placebo comment; it's not at all what I expected. I was hoping for more action, which doesn't seem to happen at all, but it is still an enjoyable and short read. (Translated from Spanish)

No one missed Ichabod Crane. Because he was single and had no debts. Johnny Depp plays the character... now in the United States they are asking "To cut off his head." Is it prophetic? More than the story itself. (Translated from Spanish)

It's not what I expected, but I found it very interesting.

Almost the entire story is descriptions, but it's not tedious. It reads quickly and is very short.
    I liked it.

Recommended for everyone who is not looking for it to resemble Burton's movie. (Translated from Spanish)

Extraordinary storyteller on par with Lafcadio Hearn, there are even similar tales with different traditional origins, one Irish and another Japanese.

In short, highly recommended especially his stories of pirates and treasures; folklore of that ghostly and adventurous United States. (Translated from Spanish)
