Katie used to run to win. Leaving home to go to college is never easy. Everything's so shiny and new and very, very scary. At least it is for Katie. Caught somewhere between the girl people expect her to be and the future she can see for herself, Katie learns the town she ran to isnt all that great. in fact, it's pretty dead. Katie used to run to win. Now she runs to live.

When Katie has to cross the barrier between worlds to save her dying friend, she does so without question. There are things beyond that wall though - things she doesn't want to know about. But she locks them away and carries on. Carries on being okay. But then she learns that saving one friend might mean killing another... And that's not okay.

Battered and bruised, Katie is hoping her life is going to finally settle down. Time to study and race and breathe. But nothing is that easy. Everywhere she looks is desperation and destruction. Being in love with a dead boy is hard enough - trying to keep secrets from him... well, that's just dangerous...

Being a ghost isn't as much fun as it sounds. Given that Katie had to die to become one, it wasn't exacxtly on her list of ambitions to begin with. As if learning how to cope with being dead wasn't enough, one of her dead brothers is stalking her, intent on taking her into the Dead World. Her boyfriend is trapped there but he's been dead for centuries and even he's scared of something there...
