Truth, Dare, Promise, or Repeat - Freddie Sampayo

    Prologue

    The Invitation

The city never sleeps, but some nights, it stirs differently—like a beast turning in its den. Manhattan glittered in the distance, all steel and neon, while six lives drifted unknowingly toward a single room where everything would change.

The loft was dressed for charm—velvet couches, crystal glasses, music that hummed like a secret. But beneath the polish, tension coiled. The host smiled too sharp, the drinks were poured too generously, and in the center of the table sat a bottle—ordinary glass, yet waiting like a loaded gun.

They came for laughter. For distraction. For a night among friends. But the bottle demanded more. It would strip them bare. Truth. Dare. Promise. Or Repeat.

One spin, and the game began. One spin, and four couples would never be the same. Choices would turn to scars, whispers to weapons, and what started in thrill would end in ruin.

The loft was only the beginning. The bottle never stops.

    Chapter 1

    The Invitation

The Manhattan skyline shimmered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of Marcus and Elena’s loft. Crystal glasses clinked, music pulsed low, and laughter rippled over velvet couches. On the surface, it was another elegant night in the city. Beneath it, tension waited to break.

Marcus raised his glass, his smile too sharp.

To friends, to love, and to one hell of a night.

Elena’s hand lingered on his wrist as if to steady him, though her eyes betrayed exhaustion.

Don’t toast too early, she said softly. The night’s still young.

Across from them, Sofia adjusted her red dress, the slit teasing danger as she leaned against Damien, her boyfriend with fists calloused from the wrong kind of work. His eyes scanned the room like he was expecting someone to kick down the door.

You invited all the right people, Sofia purred, her voice tinged with sarcasm. But what’s the occasion?

Before Marcus could answer, Clara and Julian walked in arm-in-arm, their smiles fragile, rehearsed. Clara brushed a strand of hair from her face, her nervous energy obvious. Julian kissed her cheek, then let his eyes wander just a second too long toward the newest couple in the room.

    Nia and Blake.

Nia was fire—curves, laughter that drew stares, and a presence that seemed to bend light. Blake, by contrast, exuded control. His dark eyes scanned the room as though he owned it already, though he had just begun dating Nia. He poured himself a drink without asking, smirk tugging at his lips.

    Marcus clapped his hands.

We’re not here for just champagne. We’re here for a game.

    Clara frowned. A game?

Julian chuckled nervously. What, like charades?

Not exactly, Elena cut in, her voice smooth, almost rehearsed. Something different. Something… raw.

Blake leaned forward. Now you’ve got my attention.

Damien grunted. I don’t play games.

Sofia rolled her eyes. You already are one, Damien.

The group shifted, curiosity sparked. Marcus retrieved an old glass bottle from the counter and set it in the middle of the coffee table. Its reflection caught the neon lights, making it glint like a loaded weapon.

Nia raised an eyebrow. Spin the bottle? Cute. What are we—sixteen again?

Blake smirked. Maybe that’s exactly what some of you need. To remember how it feels to be reckless.

Elena’s lips curved. It’s not just spin the bottle. It’s a twist. Truth. Dare. Promise. Or Repeat. One choice every time. And whatever you choose, you can’t take back.

    The words hung heavy.

Clara shifted uncomfortably. And if we… don’t want to answer?

Blake leaned closer, voice low, taunting. Then maybe you shouldn’t have shown up.

Julian tried to laugh it off, but his hand tightened on Clara’s knee.

Marcus gestured to the bottle. One spin. One round to start. Then we see how far we’ll go.

Elena’s gaze lingered on Marcus, unreadable.

Sofia smirked and crossed her legs. Fine. I’ll play.

Nia bit her lip, excitement flickering. Me too.

Julian hesitated, but Clara whispered, Just one round.

Damien cracked his knuckles. Whatever. Let’s get this over with.

Blake’s smirk widened as he reached for the bottle.

Then it’s settled. Truth. Dare. Promise. Or Repeat.

The bottle spun, glass scraping against wood. All eyes
