About this ebook

Waking up trapped in a tiny cell was not the outcome I expected when I led my men to a rescue mission. Though we didn’t allow aliens into our planet, we weren’t cruel enough to deny a cry for help that looked genuine. We had taken all the precautions we thought necessary, but we still fell into their trap.
One minute we were home, the next we were prisoners inside this massive spaceship.
Feeling helpless and frustrated, I wanted to burn the place down on the ground.
But it was then when it hit me... the sweet, inebriant scent of her, of the one that was meant to be my mate...

Good read but this books only part 1 and part 2 isn’t on the app :(

Interesting concept but kept stumbling over the grammatical errors & inconsistency in the character personalities (alien warriors don’t get ‘grossed out’ by prison conditions) - only made it to chapter 3 before getting too frustrated.

Chapter 1

Garion

Please identify yourself and name the reason for your presence in our orbit! the warning echoed in the planetarium control room. The presence of unexpected alien ships in Draccuria's orbit was not something one saw on a regular basis. Everyone knew the planet had very strict rules regarding unauthorized visits.

The warning had been repeated a few times, and no answer had reached them from the alien vessels.

I frowned and glanced at Adruz. Any information from our scans? I asked my brother.

Adruz shook his head. Whoever these people are, they have the most powerful force shields I've seen before. The probes can't penetrate it, he informed me. The ships are definitely manned, but they are ignoring all our attempts to communicate with them.

Has Vrokard been notified? I asked, with a deep frown.

Adruz nodded. From the moment they showed up in our radars. You know how he feels about unannounced visits.

Should I get my men ready to act? I asked, as the operator's last warning echoed in the room.

Adruz sighed. That's Vrokard's call, but I believe it will come to that. He won't wait for them to make the next move, he assured me, and I knew he was right.

Our parents had never encouraged other species' visits to our planet and when Vrokard took over the reins of the planet, he had decided to continue with their guidelines on the matter. He had even reinforced them when the woman everyone thought he would claim as his mate disappeared right after the visit of a merchants' vessel.

No one entered Draccuria without his permission and he certainly didn’t give it to just anyone.

Will you come along? I asked him.

Adruz was probably one of the best warriors we had after Vrokard and having him on my side was an opportunity I would never say no to.

Yes, definitely. I'll call Vrokard and ask him for directions. Start gathering your men and be ready, he advised me as he turned around and left the room.

Sighing heavily, I turned to the operator. Warn them we'll take action if they don’t start answering us back, I barked the order.

Though we trained every single day, it had been quite some time since the last time we went into combat. Few people dared to come up against us. Our reputation was fairly known in this quadrant of the galaxy.

My body ached with the urge of letting out my dragon, but at the same time, I had to admit the whole situation had me on edge. Something didn’t add up. The aliens' attitude was strange and seemed to invite us to combat, which made me think we might be heading straight into a trap.

…help… we… trouble… the words finally came through and I rushed to the operator's workplace.

Play that again, I ordered him.

The dragon nodded and played the cut message we had just received.

Can you confirm it's coming from the vessels? I asked him.

Yes, sir. More precisely from the one that seems to be leading the group, the operator confirmed it.

I nodded and took another look at their current position. Ask them what kind of trouble they are in and how we can help, I ordered him, deepening my frown, not sure I believed the aliens' sudden change of heart.

The operator proceeded to do as I told him and again, the only answer we got from them was silence.

I pressed my lips into a thin line before I ordered the operator to repeat the message a few more times.

Any news? Vrokard asked as he entered the room, followed by Adruz.

I told him about the message we had just gotten and the lack of response.

Get your men ready. We'll intercept the main vessel and see what happens. Be prepared for any scenario. If their cry for help is real, you need to assess what's going on before getting anywhere near them, Vrokard ordered, his tone cold and distant.

His mission in life was to make sure our people were safe at all costs, and he took it quite seriously.

We sustained severe damage to our vessels and our people. We just need a place to land and some time to fix our vessels and heal our people, the voice came through clearer this time.

Vrokard crossed the room, imposing as usual in his black robes, matching his unrelenting, somber expression. I was one of his brothers and I couldn’t remember the last time he smiled.

He quickly took over the communication system. What happened? he asked in a cold tone.

He wouldn’t take the aliens' word for it, that much I knew for sure.

We ran into a meteorite shower and weren’t able to steer away from it in time, the voice informed, but Vrokard's frown told me he wasn’t buying the story.

Where and when did this happen? he asked, still expressionless.

Not far from here. We were hit a couple of spans ago. You were the nearest inhabited planet to our location at the time we managed to get away, the alien informed.

Vrokard closed the communication channel and turned to look at me. Have someone check those facts. No one is getting anywhere near those vessels if we can't confirm their story, he ordered before he returned his attention to the alien. How many of your vessels were damaged? he asked.

All of them, in different levels of severity, the alien replied, still in the same pleading tone.

Where were you headed? Vrokard asked.

Nowhere in particular. We've lost our home planet and we roam the universe looking for a suitable replacement. We'll be on our way as soon as possible, the alien explained, and for once, I shared Vrokard's suspicions.

A nomad species wasn’t unheard of, but they were rare. More often than not, they proved to be dangerous.

Vrokard killed the communication and turned to look at me, his frown deeper than ever.

We can't allow them to land on Draccuria. It's not safe, he told me in a stern tone.

But we can't ignore them either. It would be cruel not to offer them help, I pointed out, though, deep down, I agreed with him.

Vrokard nodded, though I could tell he still had his doubts. Offer them help on the condition they will remain in orbit and not come anywhere near our planet, he ordered me. Gather a team and give them whatever they need, within reason. Just make sure they leave as soon as possible.

I nodded and looked at Adruz. Will you gather your men? I asked him.

Yes, of course. I'll gather my team, Adruz announced, and Vrokard nodded.

I'll do the same, I told him.

Take a healer with you. Someone needs to assess the wellbeing of the aliens, Vrokard added before he turned around to leave the communication center.

I turned to look at the operator. Tell them we're gathering a team to go check their needs. We'll visit each and every one of the vessels to assess the damage they suffered during the meteorite shower.

Can anyone confirm the meteorite shower?
