PREFACE
Nowadays, highly efficient project management becoming an important factor in determining the successful of the projects manage by any organizations. It is necessary for the project team members to have multiple skills and knowledge in managing projects. Without appropriate skills and relevant expertise, a project will have a risk of unexpected delays that will affect the final delivery of the project completion as required by Project Owners.
This book is intended to make us realize that a good project starts up shall have a reasonable, excellent and practical work program whenever initiating any projects and it is such important to be able to identify the positioning and level of criticality of the project activity itself through the critical path. Project team members who possess relevant skills on project management normally will start the project with reasonable and appropriate contingencies allowances, to be carefully considered in the time planning and cost estimate to avoid any possible and unexpected delays.
As a moving forward action, an effort in determining ways of improvement and innovation to minimize the risk of project delays by determining the common cause and type of project delays, the cause and effect of the project delays and its impact to Project Owners with corrective action to minimize it, and if possible, to eliminate those delays. The main objectives are not to introduce more work processes or increase existing work load or to focus on fault finding. The direction is to achieve simplicity, to reduce workloads and gain benefits from the recommendations and actions, to suit various purpose and acceptable by the most parties concern.
In general, project delays are unavoidable but it can be minimized with some adjustment to the work management with planning realignment, to suit with current scenario. It is important to recover the delay the soonest possible, to ensure the project can be delivered as expected. Lesson learnt realization from the past project, initiation of processes improvement with continuous efforts on creativity and innovation, is a good start to improve on the project delays issues with viable recommendations or methods to minimize project delays with several improvement & innovative proposal to be considered by the Project Owners with determination of issues, solution to those highlighted issues, responsibilities, cost impact and risk status of each issues as stated.
