    Additional Information About This Book

In memory of Lena Keesee-Harper and others who have struggled with addiction, and to others who have not discovered that a sanctuary is a place that leads to spiritual recovery.

    INTRODUCTION

My Sanctuary is a personal guide to understanding the twelve-step

program and how it can be integrated biblically with a Christian perspective. I believe that scripture and the twelve steps are both important healing tools and that if you apply these tools to your life, you can open yourself to God’s grace, mercy, and unconditional love. The main theme of My Sanctuary is that healing is possible. Everyone can experience a sanctuary in which wounds can heal.

Why a spiritual recovery journal? It is a record of your addiction

and those experiences and thoughts you deem valuable. Within the journal you will be able to preserve those interactions, events, and reflections that trace your personal history with God. This material is for adults who have experienced feelings of guilt and shame, low self-esteem, low self-worth, anxiety, and unworthiness. It is also for those who have been hiding their addictions and are fearful of allowing them to come out in the open.

This journal will help you replace addictive behaviors with spiritual strength.

This journey will be an awakening to God’s compassion and His grace. The twelve steps and accompanying scripture passages help you rediscover and deepen your spiritual life
