    Celebrate Your Divinity - Orest Bedrij

    PRAISE FOR

    Celebrate Your Divinity

    "All who thirst for genuine meaning behind life and explanation of greater reality will find what they are looking for in Orest Bedrij's book Celebrate Your Divinity. Many contemporary 'theories of everything' conclude with an all-encompassing particle or astronomic singularity. This book covers the unfinished terrain, showing a mathematical unity behind the physics, and how such discoveries relate to our deepest sensibilities about God, the All-in-All, and the world.

        The book weaves also together many vistas of history and recent sociopolitical events with this arcane matter. It shows the reader where humanity must go, and provides material suggestions on simple approaches they can use to improve life's quality at any immediate moment . . . His guidance is a wonderful steppingstone toward a fulfilled life."

    —Prof. Stephen Modell, MD, MS, Director Research,

    Genetic Policy, University of Michigan

    This is a visionary work of monumental proportions; a masterpiece of man's highest thoughts and insights. Orest Bedrij has trodden where most dare not. He has had the courage to visit and deliberate in the great disciplines and then to reap the harvest of the world's greatest minds—minds from those at the dawn of the understanding of man's consciousness to those at the forefront of today's level of understanding. Just as so many of the great minds before us, in their flashes of inspiration, Bedrij has seen the thread of new unity among the fruits of the disciplines of science, philosophy, religion, mathematics, bringing them under one brilliant universal umbrella to share with us all. This work will bring to us a new vision of the world. It will bring inspiration to those seeking new and deeper insights into reality. It will encourage these pioneers of human thought to move ever boldly forward.

    —Prof. Peter Kotzer, President of

    Washington Natural Philosophy Institute

    The ideas in this book bring to our civilization a new basis for optimism, a sense of the achievability of sanity. Orest Bedrij delivers to his readers a guide for living which supplements that greatest of guidebooks written for all mankind almost 2000 years ago. The beauty of the writings and the clarity of thinking raised my level of consciousness. I felt cleansed and elevated with new hope. With this book on our bedside table, our sleep can be filled with the wisdom of one of today's great thinkers.

    —Jen Eddy, Poet, Artist and Spiritual Teacher

    This profound book holds sacred insights sought by the scientists, saints, and prophets throughout history and reveals to us who we truly are, and our interconnectedness with all of creation and the Creator.

    —Charles O. Bubar, President of The International

    Instiute for Educational Excellence, Inc.

    This is the book to keep beside your bed and read often. Behind Orest Bedrij's words is the voice of a man who demonstrates the ultimate reality of One through science and personal experience. I know of no one else today who could do such a magnificent job in integrating ancient wisdom into an overall non-fragmentary worldview—while inspiring his readers at the same time. The liberal use of quotations from enlightened leaders of humanity today and in the past beautifully demonstrate our evolving human awareness of I. This book is not just for scientists or the spiritually focused; it is for all intelligent open minds and souls who are truth seekers.

    —LaUna Huffines, Author, Healing Yourself with Light;

    Bridge of Light: Tools of Light for Spiritual Transformation

    "In the midst of guns and glamour, and the ascendant loss of life in the name of serving them, here is a manual for raising the human dimension and struggle to its cosmic significance. Its encyclopedic scope and depth are the product of a lifetime of dedicated study. Orest Bedrij brings fresh light to the Divine disguised in time, the pecking order of Graces, the evolutionary adventure, and located in the Heart of God. He picks his grapes in bunches, harvests clusters—not solitary fruits—and always has hold of the stems.

        The book turns out to be a brilliant translation of the insight of contemporary mathematical physics, into the coinage of everyday parlance. This is no bedside novel to nurture sleep, but a wake-up call on the rim of disaster. It is not addressed to the faint of heart or to those with tired minds, but a summons to know what it is to be fully human, and do now what is invited, yes, required of us. Thank Bedrij for blowing a clear, clean, warning signal. It is born of his deepest optimism about the human venture, rooted in his contagious religious and scientific outlook. Sersum Corda! Up Hearts!"

    —Dr. Glenn A. Olds, Former President of Kent State University,

    US Ambassador to the UN Economic and Social Counsel

    "I found this to be a book of revelation about our own divinity and the principle above the laws of nature. As such, it is the greatest book of revelations since the Holy Bible."

    —Dr. Clancy McKenzie, MD, Author of

    Delayed Post-traumatic Stress Disorders from Infancy

    Praise for Orest Bedrij's Previous Books

    One

    "I have not seen any recent book which encompasses a greater range of factual information nor does so under a more poetic guise than One . . . Quotes from the great religious writings of our own and other civilizations link it to the best thinking of all times and all ages."

    —Prof. John Archibald Wheeler, Princeton University

    Bedrij is a scientist, a businessman, a mystic. He writes with rare power about science and religion, mysticism and business . . . Beautifully written by a man of sheer intelligence.

    —The Book Reader, San Francisco, California

    You

    This book is an important stepping-stone to a quantum jump in evolution, a world of Oneness which is in the making under our very eyes. May this book inspire leaders to catch up with the sages of our times who are revealing to us the fundamental Oneness of humanity and of all creation.

    —Dr. Robert Muller, Chancellor of the United Nations University for

    Peace, Former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations

    This very original book is both a work of science and mysticism . . . It will nourish both the mind and the spirit . . . a genuine contemporary spiritual anthology . . . with meditations that succeed each other like beads on a rosary.

    —Prof. Antoine Faivre, Chair of Esoteric and

    Mystical Studies, University of Paris (Sorbonne)

    About the Author

    PREFACE

    You are a divine elephant with amnesia

    Trying to live in an ant hole.

    Sweetheart, O Sweetheart

    You are God hiding from yourself.

    —Hafiz

    When I was a galactic cluster,

    I did not understand;

    When I was a mighty sequoia,

    I did not grasp;

    And when on my way I became an elderly woman,

    I still did not know;

    But, when I let the Life Triumphant, wisdom,

    Beauty, truth, goodness, and boundless love of

    Sacred teachings be my life,

    I realized that I am, was,

    And shall always be

    The Absolute Reality.

    —Orest Bedrij

The majority of facts with which I shall deal are generally old, incontrovertible relevant, and familiar to most of us.

        How would you like, in the spirit of universal incognito, to forget who you are and what you do and to emerge in a cosmic masquerade? Can the Spirit of God (the theory of everything or '1' in conventional physics), which is biblical in its formulation but the profound Unchanging State of the universe in its foundation, rediscover itself within us? Can scientific rigor, precision physics, inner traditions, religious insight, creative problem-solving, and education show us the road map to the heart of things, crack the infinite code across levels of knowledge, and expand loving relations among all of us? Can we find the strength and wisdom to carry the great torch of liberty, altruism, and appreciation on its next lap from an unconscious to a conscious growth or remembering?

        Just think if it were possible to purify our consciousness (Who is this I? What on earth am I here for?), to live and love from the perspective of the ultimate or God, celebrate our splendor and divinity, in the rough and tumble of the real world, as opposed to the brilliance of the Ivory Tower, we would see the holiness in everyday life and build the golden alphabet of love, goodness, and abundance. With breathless grace we would have the skill to manage our destinies more effectively, the capacity to work miracles daily, and the gift to cheer up our hearts forever.

        Among the many tantalizing what ifs of the Christ era (AD)— what if the high priests (Annas, Caiaphas, the Sanhedrin), and the teachers of the law, understood what Moses, Isaiah, Jesus, the Buddha, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger, David Bohm, Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, John A. Wheeler, and the leading scientists in quantum theory understand today? What if the chief officials, scribes, and the elders of the people in their quest for truth, knowledge, and values understood the nature of God, the secret teachings of the Nazarene, and our Oneness: all one in Christ Jesus (Gal 3:28)? What would our human health, music in our minds, fragrance from our hearts, and planetary life be like today if Hitler, Stalin, Mao Ze-dong, husbands and wives, parents and children, employers and employees were encouraged to think of themselves as an absolute family and to call each other brother and sister who are filled with the Spirit of God (Eph 5:18), the wisdom, compassion, and happiness absolute?

        My take is, the grand story today would be completely different. The quality of our life (freedom, peace, human dignity, health, cognition, communication, opportunities for individual and social flourishing) would be stunningly higher. There would be no Crucifixion, no Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, no Inquisitions, no Crusades, no Uncle Tom Cabin, no white slave markets of Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Salé, no World War I, no World War II, no Hitler-Stalin-Mao Ze-dong death factories or Holocaust, no 9/11, no nuclear, biological, chemical, and conventional weapons, no jihad (a holy duty obligatory on Muslims to spread Islam by waging war), and no struggle against military Islam. We would have profound peace, unrestrained altruism, heartfelt freedom, great prosperity, and great happiness on earth.

    For decades eminent scientist, their troubadours, and the most accomplished scholars of bold vision, daring, and boundless love from a variety of disciplines, knew about our connectedness with everyone and everything. Now you have the opportunity to peer into the minds of brilliance and examine what a galaxy of wisdom teachers, mothers, and fathers have attempted to answer for thousands of years. Now this information can find its way into all reaches of our humanity—help us recover our memory and become conscious of our identity, celebrate our life and our divinity.

    '1': The Deepest Law of Nature

    Unifies the Laws of the Large and the Small

    The Unchanging State, '1' (where the fundamental laws of nature that were true yesterday are true today and will be true tomorrow), which transcends time, space, science, and religion is more than the ultimate ground from which all things originate and the basic unity at every point of cosmic order. It is a profoundly personalized experience related to your Infinite Splendor, and how the physics of God and the unchanging nature of his purpose (Heb 6:17) flourish in your being, our families, religion, and in science. Why are scientists incorporating God in their equations of physics?

        Exhilarating, inspiring, and uplifting, '1' removes layers of mythmaking and casts a new light on this heart-stopping playground of God's masquerade—as us, the latest breakthroughs concerning the personal knowledge and experience of God's heartbeat within everything, the interdependence of our human family, and the common foundation that is above all laws of nature. Brimming with old and familiar facts about a priceless treasure, the frontiers of altruistic love, and the momentous principles that control the universe—propelling science, peace, freedom, and economy to one breakthrough after another. This book may be said to have more than eleven thousand corroborators. My sincerest appreciation and indebtedness to all of them and to you for reading this book: Thank you; I love you very much. You will see shortly why.

        The evidence is consistent, awesome, and life transforming. You will find in the Notes and Bibliography elaboration, amplification, and strengthening of ideas that are presented in the book. It integrates this heart-to-heart love in each one of us as well as the most recent advances about you, your family, and the people you know through multidisciplinary approaches of books that changed the world and the cutting edge of science. They are for your eyes to see, for your ears to hear, for your mind to know, and your heart to experience. This cross discipline and cross-sector corroboration produces a unified theory of everything (the Holy Grail of modern physics), the future of the universe, and recommends ways of accelerating our individual and social advancement. So that your heart can always be full of eternal joy and deep peace, the sort of pure happiness and gladness that no one can take away from you.

    INTRODUCTION

    Sing praises to God, sing praises:

    Sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

    —Psalms 47:6

    An Exhilarating Experience: Why Tamper with Success?

    Manuel Lisa, an Indian trader, accompanied by John Colter, a trapper and explorer, whose traveling party is thought to be the first white people to observe Yellowstone National Park, reported the spectacular thermal phenomena of thousands of erupting hot springs and mud volcanoes. No one believed the story. It was after others crossed the forty-fifth parallel, halfway between the North Pole and the equator, observed, experienced, and verified the broad, beautiful volcanic plateau, with its ten thousand geysers, steam vents, and oozing mud pots, rivers, fishes, Yellowstone Lake, Mammoth Hot Springs, majestic waterfalls, mountains, flowers, buffalo, elk, deer, moose, bears, and exquisite Old Faithful, that the Yellowstone experience became believable and accepted.

        Similar to the Yellowstone explorers, men and women like you and I, throughout the short history of our wonderful planet, have observed, validated, and corroborated the Unchanging State that is above the laws of nature. In the wisdom traditions of the world's great cultures we term the Unchanging State as: the nature of God, the greatest good, absolute consciousness, or the secret of secrets.

        In precision science, the Unchanging State is the Common Ground, the pre-quantum fact, the ordering principle of the universe, or the foundational condition of nature in which time, space, and the texture of reality are in pre-physical potentiality. Metaphorically, this state is like this page before any letters were printed on it, similar to a calculator set at zero. Observations of the Unchanging State have led to the endeavor of confirming, authenticating, and integrating knowledge into a demonstrable body of natural laws, values, and fundamental physical constants. Today, we characterize this branch of learning, concerning the Unchanging State, as science.

        Albert Einstein, a towering intellectual gardener of ideas, wrestled for over thirty years with the realms of fields, gravitation, non-Euclidean geometries, and the quantum to develop his unified field theory; namely, a single theory to decipher all physical interactions. Einstein spoke and wrote of how we overvalue science when considered next to Reality. Still, it is our most prized possession; wrote Einstein, One thing I have learned in a long life: that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike—and yet it is the most precious thing we have.

        What do your deepest intuitions suggest about God and yourself? How is the nature of God manifested? Who does your thinking when you think? Are they identical? I found they are. Furthermore, I discovered that there are numerous methods through which a person can attain validation and enlightenment about their own nature and then deepen one's realization further. Additionally, I discovered that the nature of our common bond, human cognition, and goodness of heart, is much greater than generally recognized.

        Several questions may well be asked. Given that the truth about our fundamental nature has been known for over three millennia, why has this truth and the study of the Unchanging State not diffused into the planetary appreciation in a more significant manner? Why isn't this news being shouted from the rooftops? Why is the Old Testament insight that You are 'gods'; all are sons of the Most High ['1'] (Ps 82:6), not reflected in humanity's actions and social outcomes?

        Perchance the Unchanging State notion is overly majestic and the human family is not ready to perceive such a grand initiative. Possibly, the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum theory, one of the most imposing structures in all physics, that the observer and the observed are fundamentally one has not percolated into the planetary realization. Perhaps Jesus' suggestions for enhancing individual and social flourishing and triumphs and Irenaeus' notion that God the Logos became what we are, in order that we may become what He Himself is has not been integrated into humanity's awareness. Perhaps all of these; perhaps none of these.

        What has changed? The far-reaching nature of human potential, growth, and transformation was known prior to Darwin. Moses, the Buddha, Jesus, Newton, Darwin, and Einstein brought additional observations to the table. That is my aim here. Now we have new and more compelling evidence of how these insights relate to the Unchanging State, which gave us atoms, stars and planets, our cognition and worldviews about existence; now we have new and more scientific proof. Also, we are at a very crucial time in history. On the one hand, there are countless challenges, some of which are listed in part 2, chapter 10. On the other hand, the solutions to our challenges are coming of age.

        Filled with the great joy, wisdom, courage, humor, and empathy of countless luminaries, this book embodies the development of humanity's thinking over the last five millennia. It addresses a multiplicity of relationships: how to live in our maze of the marketplace, how to learn to love beauty and gladness, experience the Holy Light within ourselves, follow our bliss. It suggests an answer to the questions: what is the unified theory of everything, the future of the universe and cosmic history, and the secret teachings of Jesus. How to make music in our heart? How do we become conscious of who we are, enhance group interaction, and improve quality of our life?

        You will marvel, as I did, at the joys and wonders in discovering the answers behind the shadows of Light and life, the alleviation of human suffering, and the advancing your own life and a universe of your own. You will learn how history is fashioned, its implications for us, and why the Emperor of Emperors ('1') has no clothes, and why a matrix of information and knowledge of the Unchanging State will give you and your loved ones the hidden benefits, more personal liberty, and the improvement of human life and aspirations.

    Synthesis of Corroborations:

    A Convergence of Science and Spirit

    Part 1 concentrates on the traditional historical evidence, from the great treasures of ancient and contemporary wisdom into the various aspects of the nature of God and its implications for us. Does God ('1', the Unchanging State) continue to take an active role in our destiny, or did participation end with the creation of the universe? Part 2 focuses on old and familiar scientific evidence and the latest breakthrough findings of the Unchanging State as a unifying explanation spanning every branch of science and technology, as well as economic, political, and social considerations based on these findings.

        There is an absolute core or the Unchanging State to us all, despite the changes observed at the atomic, worldly, and cosmic levels. Albert Einstein points out: the unchanging obstructs nothing, pervades everything, is free from variableness and is changeless and unmovable. In Christian tradition it was termed as the unity of the Spirit (Eph 4:3). Mystery schools and occult teachings signify the Unchanging State with self-realization, liberation, and illumination.

        With a bibliography of over six hundred references, the corroborations of cosmologists, physicists, and educators are linked with the validations of researchers and scholars of spiritual ways of thinking; joining the threads of science and symbolic expressions of metaphors and weaving them into a texture of nuanced tapestry. The objective is not to support any individual tradition or science. The purpose is to assist in building bridges, or to give a synthesis of cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields and new insights centering on the unchanging within everything. The goal is to deepen scientific inquiry into the Unchanging State, to reconcile humanity and the Eternal, and to transform information into experiential knowledge. In connecting knowledge of observable proofs in the empirical sciences with verifications of sacred traditions, you will see that all are corroborating the Unchanging State in merely different words.

        Some of the researchers, verifiers, and educators of the Unchanging State were elevated to superhuman Olympian heights as holy beings, saints, and prophets, and were worshipped as divinities, goddesses, and extraordinary individuals. The Nobel Prize laureates, recipients of one of the most prestigious of all awards for intellectual eminence, decided by the Nobel Foundation at the Karolinska Institute and presented by the Royal Swedish Academy at the Stockholm Concert Center, have been honored with the elaborate prize-giving ceremonies to become scientific demigods.¹

        The initial prizes of the Unchanging State instituted by Alfred Nobel, the Swedish armament manufacturer, were for physics, chemistry, medicine, peace, and literature. Others were cruelly persecuted, treated as criminals, burned alive at the stake, or had their heads chopped off for bizarre stories relating their evidence of the Unchanging State and our position in nature. If you wish to awaken within yourself a sense of dreadful awe and reverence for the very early Christian martyrs, visit the Appian Way catacombs and secret chapels leading out of ancient Rome. Saint Justin inscribed previous to his own martyrdom, We are beheaded, we are crucified, thrown to wild beasts, burned, and put to every kind of torture. Everyone sees it.²

        Rabbi (teacher of Scripture) Jesus of Nazareth (Yeshua, the Christ), one of the most compassionate and revered human beings who ever walked this planet, was not the only one to sustain the cruelties and gruesome loss of life. He was persecuted, tortured, and murdered for enabling us to appreciate our sense of worth, improving human cognition, and quality of life, and for revealing the embracing nature of the Unchanging State (Christ's Spirit, the nature of God) in us. Saint Cecilia, Kabir, Mansur, Paltu, Guru Amar Das, and many others were censored, tormented, or killed under the instigation of the high priests, scholars, or the radical fundamentalists of the day.

    Insights into the Nature of Your Being:

    All Tell the Same Story

    There is a massive body of perennial corroboration, as well as innumerable archaeological finds and endless galleries of scientific books and validation, regarding the Unchanging State and our Infinite Splendor. Some of this evidence is mentioned in the book, Notes, and Bibliography. Other support, like the Nyingma Edition of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon and the Great Treasures of Ancient Teachings (755 volumes with 36,000 titles by 1,500 authors) and the Tao-tsang (1,476 works in 5,481 volumes) is awaiting translation into English.

        These most beautiful orchids and timeless classics deepen our understanding of the Unchanging State and our Splendor. They show us how to live and as the Bhagavad Gita put it, Know this Atman, unborn, undying, never ceasing, never beginning, deathless, birthless, unchanging for ever. They reiterate profound knowledge beyond our grandest notions of evidence that has changed the direction of history and of many lives. Excerpts characterize the embodiment of a deeply intense wisdom which glimpses into the central essence of both the unchanging and you—the organizing principle above the laws of science that is accepted within the scientific community for proposing, conducting, and reporting research.

        Not long ago, most of these classics were censored, prohibited, misrepresented, burned, or lost. Most secret knowledge was communicated verbally and limited to small groups. Even when it appeared on paper, the meaning was frequently cryptic, as the Chinese stated, the Tao that cannot be spoken, or as the Kabbalists put it, this is sufficient for one who is enlightened, or the enlightened one will understand. Opposition to new knowledge, new learning, and new extensions of rights and freedom of thought and expression has emerged in all communities, small and large, in all parts of the world, during all periods of history.

        Mind has waited for three billion years on this planet before composing its first string quartet, rhapsodized Freeman Dyson, professor of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. It may have to wait for another three billion years before it spreads all over the galaxy. I do not expect that it will have to wait so long. These classics present a road map in the exhilarating voyage of human life, leading us all to our Highest Good, the state of being consciously unified with the Unchanging State. Currently we are unconsciously unified.

        In ancient times, whether it was putting in place the calendar of seasons, plotting the course of heavenly bodies or measuring the Nile water level, determining the optimum planting and harvesting time in the fields, or cataloging restorative herbs, these efforts were, in most cases, initiated by the upper elite of priests and other high officials dedicated to the service or worship of a deity, holy beings, or nature itself. As particular subject matters acquired systematic depth and validity, some beliefs became verifiable facts. Knowledge and magical moments of experience advanced from the temples of faith, belief, and educated nobility, thus becoming a way of life and living truth in homes, schools, and communities. This was the case with one of the oldest of sciences, astronomy, which was essential for farming, creating calendars, and navigation. The same held true with medicine, education, biology, and mathematics.

        Today, the whole structure of our society does not correspond with the worldview of emerging scientific thought, said physicist and systems theorist Fritjof Capra. Erwin Schrödinger maintained that it takes approximately fifty years before a major scientific breakthrough enters the public consciousness—before the populace recognizes what science knows. In addition, we are facing revisions of the fundamental concepts of science by the Unchanging State, which is above and beyond the laws of science, and is more drastic than those engendered by relativity, quantum mechanics, and particle physics. Now we can glimpse dimly into the grand structure of the Unchanging State; as Thomas Merton suggested, It implies an awareness and acceptance of one's place in the whole; first, the whole of creation, then the whole plan of Redemption— to find oneself in the great mystery of fulfillment.

    God's Involvement in History:

    You Are Gazing Forth from Every Face

    Please forgive my extensive use of citations, enumerations, references, and emphases, parenthetical remarks in quotes [], and accent by way of highlighting or italicizing significance attached to a meaning. There is no substitute for reading and understanding the original words. To make certain that what we say is remembered customarily in life we converse with emphasis. For example, two thousand years ago we did not have the breadth of cosmetics to emphasize some part of the face as the eyes or the cheekbones. My purpose, therefore, is to clarify, explain, simplify, and to harvest the truth in time and space that expresses ideas and emotion in significant forms through the elements of meaning, harmony, and ease of reading by various kinds of people—young and old, highly educated and less well educated, scientists, ministers, and laymen. Consequently, as an aid to comprehension, please make a note that all Bible (the collection of Jewish and Christian texts), Bhagavad Gita, Koran, Vedic, Islamic, and Upanishadic emphases are mine. I pray that this approach will lead into a fuller appreciation of the Unchanging State, God Almighty within us.

        Each human being is unique. What resonates for one heart may not resonate for another. Experience shows the average person has to be informed several times before they see the point. There is a saying in the marketing business that an advertisement has to be seen no less than six times before a communication makes an impact. Reaching the potential buyer with the message is not the challenging part of marketing. What is challenging is getting consumers remember it and then act on it. These devices enable us to understand our human closeness with the Splendor of Light ('1'), to which all explanations and universal truths may be traceable. Each person will find parts of their own life revealed in this journey, and I would suggest reading it either in small chocolate like doses or making it your main holiday reading. You will not be the same person afterward as before. That is the purpose of this book.

        Using verifications of the empirical sciences and support from ancient and recent spiritual wisdom, we discover that all complex phenomena are produced by very simple rules. We learn that we have aspects or capacities not yet developed, that all of us are related, that there is no one else within our robe but the Infinite Splendor itself.

        Albert Einstein reinforces this perennial wisdom of the world's spiritual traditions thusly: A human being is a part of the whole, called by us the 'Universe' . . . Yes, science has achieved a certain level of understanding of the Unchanging State, the nonfragmentary worldview. The Vedas, the ancient Aryan Scriptures and the earliest spiritual revelations of Indian literature, whose pages constitute six times the length of the Bible, gave birth to the idea of an ultimate explanation, beyond the ultimate explanation of traditional religion, You are looking forth from every face. The Righteous One refined the unchanging concept, You are the light of the world.

        The evidence is compelling. The Unchanging State in mathematical physics, the Light of life in religion, having no explanation in terms of a deeper principle, is nearer to us than we are to ourselves. It has no political doctrine or manifesto and is the central principle of the universe. We are all one. The kingdom of God ['1'] is near (Lk 21:31), said Jesus. Our salvation is closer than we accept as true, wrote Saint Paul to the Romans. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night [of who is this I?] is nearly over; the day [of the Unchanging State] is almost here (Rom 13:11).

    You Will Never Forget: The Beating of the Heart of God

    On one hand, imagine a universe where everything is invisibly connected to everything else on a fantastically deep level, in a most fundamental sense if we are brothers and sisters to one another, members of a family, transcending time and space, being unconcerned with the color of skin or individual ideologies. On the other hand, it is an opportunity to experience your life, in the framework of the Impressionist light, color and inspiration in the arts, such as Handel's Messiah, Marc Chagall's series Message Biblique, and Thomas Mann's Joseph and His Brothers. The corroborations are irrefutable, elucidating, and gripping with the subtleties and elegance of a Stradivarius or a Gardini violin in a concert chamber. I invite you to a personal experience of the beating of the Heart of God, wherein everything is one and works together in crisp megapixel resolution. Come along on a spellbinding adventure of the greatest thinkers and their priceless gems. We owe them a great debt of gratitude after a job well done. They'll touch your soul, as they have touched mine. Make the Great Discovery for yourself about yourself, the meaning of life and your liberation. Renew your conscious connection with the Infinite Beauty, Inner Goodness, and Priceless Splendor within You. Journey. Ascertain. Marvel.

        Advances in our civilization have always entailed the awareness of new universal principles, leading to breakthroughs in living, such as reverence to the family, the structure of DNA, and seeing a baby before it is born. Here, you will have the opportunity to understand how you can improve the nature of your personal universe, the richness of your life, serenity, and success. You will learn of its absolute simplicity, profundity, and naked magnificence of the One Principle ('1') that is behind everything which has come to pass and will ever take place in our universe. You will wonder why it took us so long to discover the treasure and why we sometimes do not work together in unity and harmony, as do the cells in our bodies and the galaxies and clusters of galaxies.

        We have found a strange footprint on the shores of the unknown, attested the twentieth century pioneer in the fields of relativity and cosmology (study of the largest-scale structure of the universe), Sir Arthur Eddington. We have devised profound theories, one after another, to account for its origin. At last, we have succeeded in reconstructing the creature that made the footprint. And lo! It is our own.

        For an egg to transform into a human, it must stop being an egg. Entry into the highest mode of living involves accessing our highest potential and nourishing our hungry souls. Ultimately, the keys of life are within us: keys to unleashing mighty forces that could be used for good or evil, for creating or destroying; keys to add brightness to the sun or glory to the Infinite Splendor within us.

        As the human family gains more knowledge, our prejudices will diminish. Our unity, optimism, appreciation, and loving-kindness will increase. Our standard of living will improve. We will broaden and deepen our compassion, admiration, and happiness in our families, social institutions, schools, and governments. We will bring about more light into light, more compassion into compassion, more teamwork into teamwork, and more freedom into freedom. We will leave our world in a better state than we found it. We must accept the possibility, even the probability that the greatest era of humanity is about to begin. Such convergent reasoning has the potential to impact the general course of our immediate knowledge, national economies, general welfare, and the human disciplines. It can guarantee prosperity, deep peace, health, and happiness for those who practice how to know, learn, care, and make new science, medicine, and religion utterly different from the old. We see our lives yoked to the chariot of the unchanging.

        God speed the mark, wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson. Now, let us deal with the collective evidence leading to a new scientific renaissance, referred to in the idiom of our age as a final theory. Let us enjoy the trail of light and concern of those spiritual and intellectual contributors upon whose broad shoulders millions have stood and who have enriched this book: Jesus the Christ, Moses, Shakyamuni Buddha, Lao-tzu, Holy Prophet Muhammad, Mahavira, Saint John, Saint Paul, Ramana Maharshi, Jetsun Milarepa, Jalal al-Din Rumi, Paramahamsa Yogananda, Socrates, Seneca, Cicero, Bayazid, Origen, Shankara, Saint Irenaeus, Gregory the Great, Saint Augustine, Moses Maimonides, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Angela of Foligno, John of the Cross, Aldous Huxley, Ernest Rutherford, Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg, Charles Darwin, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Erwin Schrödinger, David Bohm, Max Planck, Niels Bohr, Richard Feynman, Georg Cantor, Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac, Galileo Galilei, Kurt Gödel, James Maxwell, George Santayana, William James, Alfred North Whitehead, Benedict de Spinoza, Teilhard de Chardin, Saint Teresa of Avila, Hildegard of Bingen, Elizabeth of Schoenau, Marie of Oigniens, Hadewijch, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Anandamayi Ma, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Meister Eckhart, Meher Baba, Mahatma Gandhi, Thomas Merton, Sathya Sai Baba, John von Neumann, Eugene P. Wigner, Hans Albrecht Bethe, John A. Wheeler, Steven Weinberg, Arthur Eddington, Isaac Newton, David Finkelstein, Sir Roger Penrose, Stephen W. Hawking, and other noted peers. They are a treasure! The theme is You—the Infinite Magician—playing hide-and-seek from Yourself!

    PART 1

    THE ULTIMATE JOY OF PARADISE—

    SEEING GOD FACE-TO-FACE

    LIGHT OUT OF LIGHT

    If you do not expect it,

    You will not find the unexpected,

    For it is hard to find and difficult.

    —Heraclitus

    At night prisoners are unaware of their prison,

    At night kings are unaware of their majesty.

    —Rumi

    From ignorance we come to belief;

    Through belief we achieve knowledge;

    With knowledge we reach understanding.

    Understanding in action is wisdom;

    Wisdom in action is love;

    Love in action is God manifest.

    —Orest Bedrij

    WHERE IS GOD? WHO ARE WE, MY FRIEND?

    Washington taught the world to know us,

    Lincoln taught us to know ourselves.

    —Donn Piatt, a Union soldier and journalist

    Who'll Tell Me My Secret?

    Would you enjoy a breathtaking hide-and-seek adventure, dressing yourself in masquerade costumes of whirling particles, clusters of galaxies, a gigantic sequoia, a beautiful sunrise, or captivating women? How many billions of years will it take us, in these constantly camouflaging appearances, to awaken to our fundamental identity? How many disguising masks and compassionate songs will it take to perceive the Greatest Wonder in the World, or the Infinite Beauty, Freedom, Wisdom, and Goodness in us?

        In the course of this temporary unawareness of our true nature (identity amnesia), we may perhaps challenge our mind and heart with liberating questions. Who is the knower? What are we trying to know? Can I free myself from this loss of memory and function in the consciousness and the capability of the Infinite Splendor? How can I contribute to the world around me?

        Why are we here? Can we cultivate the energy of life for health, generosity, happiness, inner peace, and longevity? What is the nature of God and its implications for the contemporary science, religion, and society? Can we translate the Eternal Wisdom into the common currency of knowledge, exuberance, and into reverence for the sanctity of our common humanity? How do we upgrade the sacrament of lovemaking to the beatific vision of Einstein's cosmic religious feeling? Broadly, can we find the solutions to problems before they actually become problems and, in so doing, advance humanity in awareness, freedom, happiness, and prosperity to greater heights? Do all of these questions point to a common yearning?

        The distinguished seminal essayist with an extraordinary depth of poetic and philosophical insight, and the founder of American literary culture, Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) wrote,

    Who'll tell me my secret,

      The ages have kept?—

    I awaited the seer,

       While they slumbered and slept.¹

    Truth on Parade: Let Us Explore Together

    Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (1926-present), former minister of finance and economy, one of the best in France's twentieth century history, was also a seven-year president of France. In the 1950s, German chancellor Konrad Adenauer and three Frenchmen, Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, originated and pursued the concept of what is now the European Union (EU). In 2002, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing chaired the EU's body drafting the constitutional arrangements for an enlarged, all-embracing twenty-first century EU. France's ex president stated, The world is unhappy. It is unhappy because it doesn't know where it is going and because it senses that if it knew, it would discover that it was heading for disaster.²

        Going . . . going faster . . . but to where? In Civilization, Kenneth Clark shared his personal view of our direction:

    I have followed the ups and downs of civilization, historically

    trying to discover results as well as causes; well, obviously I can't do

    that any longer. We have no idea where we are going, and sweeping,

    confident articles on the future seem to me, intellectually, the most

    disreputable of all forms of public utterance. The scientists who are

    best qualified to talk have kept their mouths shut.³

    Is the universe pointless, as a most distinguished scholar, Steven Weinberg, once suggested, or is it God's home, as the psalmist put forward? Is it possible that the reason is more basic, more fundamental? Is it conceivable that even though the present is the most rapid and the most significant evolutionary period in human history, although science has grown with this advancement in power and prestige, deeply we don't understand what we are looking for?

        Thomas Berry, in The Universe Story, remarked that scientific research of the universe in the last four hundred years turn out to be detached from spiritual significance and value. Consistent with Berry, so far, the scientific community was not capable to appreciate the implication of its own attainment, nor recognize its effects. Perhaps we have been focusing on and refining the methods and processes while neglecting our primary goals; as Albert Einstein (1879-1955) stated: Our age is characterized by perfecting the means, while confusing the goals.

        What are the answers in this subtle wonderland? Do today's adults and their children and grandchildren appreciate that they can play key roles in the formation of a global society in which the growth of each individual's capacities is the most important objective? Is life cruel, unyielding, and merciless, or is life incredibly precious, gorgeous, compassionate, and worthy of our deepest respect? Truth seekers, scholars, scientists, and laymen have raised this duality time and time again, within every country on our planet. Still, for most of us, the masquerade remains intact.

        Yet, here and there, at various times in history, a small cluster of individuals forged through the haze into the very core of our Infinite Splendor.
