About this ebook
It's almost Groundhog Day! Everyone knows that Groundhog has an important job to do every February 2, but this year he's not feeling well. Dr. Owl diagnoses him with the flu and orders two days of bed rest. But how will people know the weather forecast if Groundhog is down in his hole in bed? Then Groundhog has in idea—he can hire a substitute! Maybe Squirrel can be the substitute, or Eagle, or Bear. But at the substitute auditions, Groundhog realizes that none of his friends is quite right for the job. Will he be able to find a substitute or will Groundhog Day be cancelled this year?

Substitute Groundhog is a cute book about when the groundhog gets the flu one day before groundhog’s day. So he has to find a substitute. He interviews many different candidates. She finally finds a candidate, armadillo, after groundhogs day is over armadillo takes groundhog to Texas (where spring starts early). As a student this book allows me to see what it might be like to be the groundhog. It has some ok illustrations and the plot is good, but overall a very average book.As a teacher this book would work with young students. It would be a great book for small group discussions also. The plot is nothing spectacular, but it is easy to follow and keeps you semi-interested.
