Happy fourteenth birthday, sweetie! said my overly supportive mom.  Mommy baked you a birthday cake! she exclaimed as she pulled out a huge, rainbow colored, delicately iced 14th Birthday’ cake.

Mom… I grumbled, annoyed by the cheeriness.

Watch out, Carolyn! said my overly superstitious dad.  A black cat is about to cross your path!

Looking down, I noticed my black cat Lucky (what a name!) walking out in front of me.  So, I picked him up and set him on the kitchen table, where, to Mom’s horror, he happily started munching on the birthday cake.

Starting on breakfast, I pour myself a glass of orange juice and get a bowl of cereal, then sit down to watch the morning drama take play.

Watching Mom chasing after Lucky and Dad frantically trying to avoid him and trying to ask Mom something at the same time is even more entertaining than reality
