It is a fairly safe bet that there is at least one box of baking soda in your home right now. Most people have one tucked in a cabinet or in their pantry even if they only bake a handful of times a year. Other people like to have a box in the pantry and then an open box in the fridge and/or freezer because they know about the odor control features. How sad that something this amazing is so consistently overlooked, misjudged or just forgotten about. How sad that we reach for expensive cleansers filled with chemicals and harmful ingredients or worse, even more expensive organic cleansers when that simple yellow box is all that we really need. From greener cleaning to beauty tricks and tips you should be looking at baking soda not as some minor ingredient but a major component of your daily life!

Chapter One: A Brief History of Baking Soda

So few of us ever stop to think about the products that we use frequently. We don’t think about the way it was first discovered and developed. We don’t think about what kind of impact it could have on our world now or in the future and we don’t think about anything more than a few simple facts. Whether we are buying a cleaner for our kitchen floor, a laundry product or a new shampoo we ask only these questions:

Does it work like it is supposed to?

Can I afford this product?

Sometimes we might choose a cleanser or other product because some celebrity endorsed it but beyond that we don’t get really that twisted about what we are using on our bodies and in our homes. How sad considering the fact that millions of chemicals, some highly dangerous are being pumped into our rivers, lakes and streams and most of that coming from household created waste.
