About this ebook

This volume of the Golden Age of Illustration Series contains Hans Christian Andersen's most famous tale 'The Ugly Duckling', first published in May of 1859. This classic fairy tale has been continuously in print in different editions since its first publication, with many, many, different artists illustrating the story over the years. This edition features a beautiful collection of the best of that art, taken from the likes of Arthur Rackham, W. Heath Robinson, Harry Clarke, Anne Anderson, Milo Winter among others.

This series of books celebrates the Golden Age of Illustration. During this period, the popularity, abundance and - most importantly - the unprecedented upsurge in the quality of illustrated works marked an astounding change in the way that publishers, artists and the general public came to view this hitherto insufficiently esteemed art form.

The Golden Age of Illustration Series, has sourced the rare original editions of these books and reproduced the beautiful art work in order to build a unique collection of illustrated fairy tales.

A story well known to all. It shows us how cruel one can be to those considered "different." An example of what is known today as "bullying." It also leaves us with many lessons that we can all apply in our lives. A cruel, harsh, and sad tale, but ultimately worthwhile. Everyone is who they are, with their virtues and flaws that make them unique. (Translated from Spanish)

Warning: This is not a review, it's me venting HAHAHA.

    Dude noOoooOoOOooO.
I can't be objective here because the book HURT ME HAHAHA.
I listened to it as an audiobook together and... WHAT A PAIN, why is so much violence necessary? (I know it’s for the story, I’m asking rhetorically) xD. It hurt me (duh) so much how they treated the little duckling :c. (again: duuuh).

It's practically a reread, but I didn’t remember it hurt this much xD. (Translated from Spanish)

It is a story that shows us that inner beauty is worth much more than outer beauty, the kind that everyone sees.
In a simple and straightforward way, it highlights the differences between worlds.
Like all children's stories, it is moralistic; it talks to us about values and makes us reflect on what we do. (Translated from Spanish)

It is a universal tale, with values and anti-values. However, it underscores the role of a mother as well. We all carry that beauty, which few see. (Translated from Spanish)

The quintessential tale about tolerance, acceptance, and inner virtue. Passed down from generation to generation, it is a clear and effective story for any child to understand that having a different outward appearance is insignificant, while your values as a person are more important. At the very least, it should be mandatory reading in any school and family. (Translated from Spanish)

The tenderness that radiates from this story is priceless, simply beautiful, and highly recommended to read to children, and also for adults to connect more with their inner child. (Translated from Spanish)

An invitation to reflection and self-knowledge and acceptance by those who read this story. It makes it clear that the physical is important to feel the world, but what is truly valuable is what is inside and that, when the time comes, it will be reflected before others unavoidably.
