Christy Austin is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who incorporates a holistic approach to individual counseling focused on physical, emotional and spiritual health for optimum living. Utilizing a variety of creative and traditional techniques, Christy's approach to treatment is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and she also specializes in Art Therapy and Christian counseling. Christy enjoys working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and conflicts of faith. Christy commonly works with adolescents, young adults, and women.
Education: Christy earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University with an internship at University of Toledo Medical Center in Child Psychiatry PHP and outpatient units. Christy also worked alongside a team in TX at an outpatient private practice specializing in children and adolescent issues.
Experience: Christy has served in the Psychology industry since 2001 when she began as an administrative assistant. She completed graduate school in 2008 and has worked in several different areas including private practice, inpatient, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs, conducting both group and individual therapy. Christy has volunteered to facilitate group counseling for Domestic Violence victims and also led several Christian based CBT groups for emotional healing in the community.
While Christy was born in Michigan, she's lived in 6 different states in her adult life, currently residing in Ohio. Christy enjoys reading, nature walks, coffee shops, laughter with friends, and any activity at the beach.view less
