In diesem Buch werden die Grundlagen eines jeden rechtsgeschäftlichen Handelns, nämlich der Willenserklärung, dargestellt. Vom Aufbau her wird zunächst ein Prüfungsschema aufgezeigt und sodann werden die Grundzüge der Willenserklärungen als dem zentralen Teil beim Einstieg in das Zivilrecht erörtert. Dabei ist eine Vielzahl von kleinen Beispielsfällen eingefügt, da sich die abstrakt dargestellten Probleme sehr viel leichter anhand von konkreten Sachverhalten einprägen lassen. Zur Übung des Gutachtenstils sind am Ende des Buchs einige Übungsfälle mit ausführlichen und vollständig ausformulierten Lösungen angefügt.

Roy Dörnhofer hat in Bayern beide Staatsexamina abgelegt und war dann in den neuen Bundesländern als Richter und Staatsanwalt tätig. Er war unter anderem als Richter am Landgericht im Rahmen einer Abordnung in einem Zivilsenat bei einem Oberlandesgericht beschäftigt.
