Acknowledgments
We have all been there. That terrible moment when you realize that you have run out of a key fabric. When that happens to us, we can usually substitute something else. But Becky ran out of a crucial fabric in the border of Circular Momentum, and she could not find anything else that worked.
Christopher DeVoe from Baum Textile Mills came to the rescue. He was able to locate one yard of that green and white dot fabric for her. Thank you, Christopher and Baum Textiles!
Michelle Coker works in the Piece O’ Cake office, which is in Linda’s home in her sewing room. Michelle has become a great asset and blessing to Linda. While Linda was making the quilts for this book, Michelle handled much of the day-to-day Piece O’ Cake business. She was (and still is) always eager to help in any way she can. Many times during the process, Linda would say, Now what was I doing next?
Michelle would reply, You need to stitch.
Thanks, Michelle!
Dedication
From Linda
I dedicate this book to the creativity in all of us. I am often asked where I keep getting my ideas. My answer is: everywhere! I started with a basic idea for this book—Christmas. It is amazing where you find ideas that meld into other ideas.
I saw a picture of a room decorated for Christmas. It was not decorated in the usual traditional Christmas colors. The room had Christmas trees in lime green, hot pink, and blue. The tree skirt was orange tissue paper. Wow! What fun it would be to make a tree and village quilt using those colors, I thought. The colors and designs in this book were inspired by that one picture.
We are currently working on designing a collection of fabrics. While we were in Hawaii hiking in the rain forest, we saw so many plants that gave us ideas. Even lava rock created a great pattern. So take a hike, sip a cup of tea with a magazine, open your eyes. There is so much to see! Start your next quilt from the creative ideas flowing around you.
