She accompanied her Marine officer husband to various military posts, and their frequent separations inspired many of the sonnets included in this book. She has had her poetry published in several national magazines. Damaris and her husband have six grown children and eight grandchildren. They now live in Southeastern North Carolina, where Damaris is active in the art community, with her paintings hanging in private and corporate collections. Whether in words or brushstrokes, Damaris shares her delight in the whole of creation with all those who want to stop for a few moments and enjoy the wonders of life and the beauty of the world around them.view less
