Her native language is Arabic, but she fell in love with the English language when she attended the Friends Girls' School in Ramallah, the West Bank. At 15, May left for college in the United States, receiving, at 19, a BA in both English and Religion from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She later minored in history at the University of Houston.
May taught at the Friends Girls' School in Ramallah, where her mother and grandmother had taught before her. She also taught world history in Houston, Texas. But her real passion continues to be writing. Over the years, May has written and published essays, articles, poetry, and short stories in regional and national publications. This is her first published novel.
May believes in the universality of our human longings - regardless of ethnicity, religion, or politics. She lives in Houston with her husband and Bisseh, their friendly Quaker cat.view less
